Hello my name is Anne and I am from New Zealand. Until I became ill I worked as a Social Worker for the mental health service, but unfortunately had to take early retirement. Due to an increasing sense of vocation I have joined the Little Company of Mary and my prayer task is to pray for the sick and the dying.
I live simply in a 60+ year old rural cottage, I like to grow my own vegetables and I get about by bicycle. I don't like cars much I'm afraid. The History of the Early Church is something that interests me greatly, I'm doing my best to learn Latin too, but unfortunately when I was in school they taught Latin like it was a punishment for being naughty and now that I want to learn I'm having to struggle along.
An aquaintance mentioned this forum in passing so I had to investigate to find out more, - so 'Hello, and God+ bless.'

Thankyou for your pleasant welcome MintyAngel. I was a social worker with the mental health service until illness meant I had to retire early. For a while I thought I wasn't 'for' anything anymore until I began to sense that I was being guided by the Holy Spirit+ to pray for the dying as my vocation. My social worker days weren't over afterall it seemed and this time I had the job for life!
Before too long I made contact with the Little Company of Mary and at present I am a lay sister because I have the care of my elderly Mum and I'm not free to commit completely to the order yet. However I have made personal vows of chasity and modesty that I take very seriously and I take instruction from my spiritual director.
