Greetings everyone.

I am brand new to the forums and just wanted to introduce myself. I have been a Christian for about 11 years now. I have visited and attended a lot of churches since I first excepted Christ. Though I have been a Christian for this long period of time I still consider myself a babe in Christ because I have not been able to define myself by finding a “home church” . Every church I go to I seem to find something that rubs me the wrong way doctrine wise. I am praying that I can find peace with this issue in the future.

Half of my youth I went a small church (can’t remember the name I was pretty young) and then my father married a Catholic and we became a part of the Catholic church. I have since left the Catholics in my teen years and have been on a search for truth ever since. I have in my search fallen into a couple cults (but it didn’t take me long to see the anti-biblical teaching and to leave them) and a period where I no longer even went to church because I felt so hurt by the infighting of all the denominations. I have just recently started going back to church and have found a small Southern Baptist church that I have really enjoyed, but again have found problems that my mind has a hard time excepting.

I know this is a weird way to say hi to all of you, but I felt if fair to let you know where I am spiritually. I look forward to the discussions that will transpire on these forums and hope to be able to have some fellowship with you my brothers and sisters.

In Christ,
Kricket

 Welcome to CF and specifically to Semper Reformanda. You will find sound biblical discussion and teachings here as well as some nerdy humor.;)

The following two threads will teach you a bit about what we believe:
http://www.christianforums.com/t670606
http://www.christianforums.com/t687898

Also, if you are looking for a home church with sound doctrine, you can't go wrong with either the Presbyterian Church in America or the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

If you have any questions about CF, Reformed Faith or anything at all please feel free to ask. I may be a bit biased but it is my belief that Semper Reformanda contains the cream of the crop from CF.

 Welcome!!

No worries - you and I will get along just great. I too, have areas of struggle where things rub me the wrong way. I think that is normal...and through prayer and study, we begin to see things as the Holy Spirit directs us. I have been saved 10 years, belong to a Reformed denomination, but struggle with the Calvinist view/ but not completely opposed to it. HOWEVER - the people in this forum are welcoming, understanding - and you wont find much bickering - although we may bump heads on some views.

Hope You Stick Around.

I post everywhere - so you'll be seeing more of me :)

First off thanks for the warm welcome. I look forward to the fellowship of this and the other forums.

I too am in a struggle with the Calvinist view. I have been praying about it a lot as of late. The pastor at my current Church believe very strongly in it, but I just don't see it when I read the Word. I can see where the belief is pulled from, but (not wanting to start a debate on this)don't see how this view fits the message of the gospel of Christ. That is all I will say on it right now for I am still deep in study on the subject.

In Christ,

Kricket

Been there...ans still am.

I turn to people like Gabriel, Woody and Knight when I have questions. And Reformationalist (Did that guy fall off the planet...where is he???)
I used to think Calvinism was a creul doctrine...until I began to understand it better. Much of it is actually beautiful, focusing on God's Soverienty! However, like you, I do still have concerns and such. Regardless, I have always been welcomed here and the folks are hospitable and patient with people like you and I.

Welcome!

We are a friendly group which always welcomes newcomers with open arms.

I recommend you read the Canons of Dort as an explanation of much of the Reformed Faith and Calvinism.

http://www.rca.org/aboutus/beliefs/dort/

I like the version available from E-Sword.net better as the scripture references appear as you scroll across them.

http://www.e-sword.net/

It is under Downloads - Extras - "Doctrinal Works of the Reformed Tradition".

Good luck and welcome.

Yours in Christ
Willis

There was a time in my walk (not too long ago either) when the whole idea of predestination/election, and limited atonement offended me. I believe I've been where you are.

If you have any questions please ask.....

Welcome to Cf and the reform play room..

You will find a diversity of Christian beliefs here, we even can disagree with each other at times.

What is important is that we stand before God as sinners in need of a Savior, .
That we acknowledge our sin and repent and turn to Christ , the author and finisher of our salvation.
