Hi

Im John from India. I am a born again practicing Christian. I also lead people to Christ - through His grace.
I have personal struggles too. Right now my struggle is with procrastination (go ahead and call me lazy!). It is as if I am NOT able to do what I want to do.
There are instances when I have sat so determined (took a lot of effort and sheer God's grace) and finished work so wonderfully and efficiently. 99% of the times I am not able to.
Please do pray for me.
I used to be an active part of this forum way back. Crawling back here for prayer.
God bless.

Hi John! Welcome back to the Christian Forums. I hope you enjoy your return.

I'll pray for your procrastination so you can be as productive as you want to be. I can relate with these kind of struggles.

What is it like being a born again Christian in India? I've wanted to do a short-term mission there for quite some time now.

Hi all!

Thank you for the welcome and prayers. Appreciate it.

What is it like to be a born again Christian in India?

Its great! Christians have earned / enjoyed certain respect and gratitude from most people, because of the pioneering work in education and medicine (schools and hospitals) in the past century.
Nowadays, however the the term 'born-again' is intimidating. Born again believers now evangelize in conventional and non conventional ways - this is leading to some wariness from the unbelievers living around.

I mean, its getting real now. There are extreme groups that hate and hurt evangelical Christian. We as Christians are getting back to the Bible more than ever. There is reformation of the church and the way it caters to the society (in addition to education and medicine). There is more and more discipleship programs being conducted in different local churches.

I also see a difference .... in a way that, it had to be a crisis for a person to become a beleiver. It is not so now. The rich, the poor and many are turning to Christ and the turning point is not always a crisis.

The Census of India says that Christians are 2.5% of the total population. Everyone calls it a joke. There is a wave of revival in the country which is coupled with a wave of skepticism and hatred from unbeleivers.

This is my quick subjective snapshot.

Thanks for the subjective snapshot of born again life in India.

What kind of unconventional ways are people evangelizing? Do you think some of them by not be effective for the good of the born again community? It seems like a lot of them are working.

It is great to see that people who are not in crisis are still able to find their beliefs. I think this could be a sign of long-term growth as India continues to develop.

India sure is a religious hot-ground. There are so many different "waves" that are all coming from different directions. It will be interesting to see how things turn out.

Conventional ways were the trax, public gospel meetings, etc., These have ceased. Especially, public gospel meetings are very rare. There are 24 hour Christian TV channels in many languages that reach out.
Now (I'd like to believe) more through Christian living, relationship building, dialogue etc., I mean there is more equipping of believers for such tasks these days than before.
