  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hiyas. I heard about the site and thought I'd come over and peek.

My name's Kelly, and although it's true that I'm stubborn, I'm really nice about it. I currently live just ouside DC with a tiger striped tabby named Clio, and we're pretty happy here.

You'll read in my profile that I'm Baptist, and while my belief in the Baptist distinctives hasn't changed, I'm attending a Quaker meeting for worship and will likely take membership soon. I prefer the style of worship, and there are some other things that appeal to me -- and the branch I'm involved with doesn't mind the Baptist part. ;)

Anything else you want to know, just ask me. If I know the answer, I'll be glad to give it.

Cheers . . . Kelly

Thanks, guys.

Quaker worship is different than anything I'd ever seen before, but now I'm used to it. Congregants sit in expectant silence and speak as they feel led to do so. It's called vocal ministry. That's an unprogrammed meeting. There are semi-programmed and programmed meetings, too, and those have less silence and more organized "stuff," like singing, a speaker, or even a sermon.

And Clio's two and a half years old, so she's lived with me for . . . 2 and a quarter years. :) (I was clear she's a little cat, right?)
