Hi, everyone :)

I thought I'd follow Tom's lead and start a thread for favourite songs from the 70's. Feel free to list faves, post you tube clips and chat about the music we enjoyed back then and still enjoy today.

Hi, everyone :)

In 1973,I was just 19 years old. This song,by Earth,Wind, and Fire, entitled "Keep Your Head To The Sky" came out.I really needed to hear this song,in order for me to start feeling better about myself.
Here are the lyrics.

"Master told me one day
I'd find peace in every way,
but in search for the clue
wrong things I was bound to do

Keep my head to the sky
for the clouds to tell me why
As I grew .and with strenght
Master kept me as I repent

Keep your head to the sky
Keep your head to the sky

Gave me the will to be free
purpose to live is reality
Found myself never alone
changes come to make me strong

Step right up, be a man
You need faith to understand
so we're saying for you to hear
Keep your head in faith's atmosphere...

Keep your head to the sky
(Don't walk around, with your head hung down)
Keep your head to the sky"

Thanks for posting, everyone! Some great songs posted so far! :)

Yes is a band I didn't come across until about a dozen years ago. A good friend here in CF introduced them to me and I was amazed at Jon Anderson's voice, for a start. Just glorious! :)

This is my favourite Yes song - Wonderous Stories.

Yep, his high vocal range topped off their unconventional style. On that album, I liked Roundabout and then their later hit Owner of a lonely heart I thought was some of their best stuff with a bit more of a conventional feel to it.

Then there are these guys, and their very high/dynamic backup vocals.

Indeed. It blended so well with the synths that it almost sounded automated. His pitch was perfection.

My favorite from them was "Roundabout" and "Long Distance Runaround." I liked the latter from the studio album; the live Yessongs version was taken way too fast.

I saw them during the Yessongs tour and loved this piece:

At the end where the smoke starts billowing out and the fuzz the video; in the concert I saw Wakeman was hitting one of his synths with ever explosion sound and the smoke filled the whole stage so that when the siren sounds, a lone police type light was flashing over the cloud bank. The stage had been empty up to that point. But as the siren starts to lower in pitch, big fans blew the smoke away to reveal the whole band back in position, and then they started into Roundabout.

Hope I'm not the only aging punker in here. Some excellent bubblegum:

Plus for Shirley, 'cause this is the only New Zealand band I know:

Reading a rock magazine in the '70's, I think this photo was my first exposure to anything from New Zealand. "Um, I hope everything's okay down there... o_O"

That's my favorite Zepplin song also. I also really like this one:
OFF Topic:

Anyone heard the all-girl Zep tribute band Lez Zeppelin?

My son likes their of kashmir version better than the original.

Anyone remember the group Frampton was in BEFORE he went solo? It was Humble Pie with former Small Faces guitarist Steve Marriot.

This is from their 1971 "Rocking the Fillmore:"
