sad astronaut said:that's all well and good, and the message of not being judgmental is very important to Christians. However, in the movie, does it ever show what a good Christian is like? Or are they all judgmental hateful hyprocites? Does the movie have the main characters being redeemed by their faith in Jesus? I just hear all these Christians who have watched it or will watch it and saying it is a good Christian movie, but from what I've heard about, I just don't see what the "Christian message" is. I don't want to get in a long debate about what criteria should be met for a Christian movie, but to me, unless the questions above are answered in favor of Christianity, I don't see it as a Christian movie.
Thanks. I realize that it is not supposed to show Christianity in a positive light, but there are Christians claiming that it is somehow redeeming to Christianity, which I would argue against. Like I said, the movie may have a moral message to some, but to say that it is a message conducive to Christanity I just don't seetrunks2k said:You are missing the point of the movie. The point of the movie is not to show christianity as true or wonderful or anything like that. But rather that no matter how pious you try to be, nobody is perfect. I think every main character in the movie is shown to have some sort of flaw, simply because that is human nature, we are imperfect. We'll use our beliefs to justify our actions, no matter how wrong they may be. The closest thing you are going to get to a "good" christian in the movie, is the preacher's son, whom I can't think of the movie ever really portraying him as doing something wrong. He's the Christian one who doesn't care that the girl is pregnant, can't stand the over-zealous girl, etc...

First of all, it's the non-Christians who exclusively provide all the lessons. For example, Cassandra's the only person to lovingly embrace Mary when discovering her pregnancy; Hilary Faye just abducts her and performs a forced exorcism. And when Hilary Faye eventually learns her lesson, it is Rolanda non-Christianwho tells her Jesus still loves her.
