Oh I'm completely capable of laughing at myself, that is not the problem here. This movie's characters are not remotely reasonable or sensible. It sends the wrong message about Christians to non-Christians. I didn't see it the least satirical or funny. A satire should make me laugh not cringe.
The ending was unbelievable. They did not even profess Christ as Savior. It was as if they made their own religion, accepting homosexuality, premarital sex, and marital unfaithfulness. It was preposterous.
is actually pretty close to (although from a totally different direction)

which makes me think the movie is more about slamming (in the name of satire) the conservative christians (who still think there are some sins out there even if they're lousy at showing love to the sinner) and subtly (or not so subtly) praising the liberals (who seem ready to embrace anyone without telling them their sin is still harming them)
