It's a great animated film which takes place in Japan 1945.
I suggest watching this if possible.

As I remember this is based from a novel instead of Manga. It is an extremely powerful anime, if you are dry eyed by the end there’s gotta be something wrong with you

My wife, who isn’t much into anime, said, “It’s a cartoon, and it made me cry!”

It is hard to watch for entertainment value, but man, you gotta see it, it is a must!

I was dry eyed watching it. I was also a kid back then. Watching it later, well... I already knew the story. Besides, I don't really cry when watching stuff (although I may feel emotional).
