More than Half a Million People Logged on to ticketmaster Saturday Morning attempting to purchase tickets to the now sold out Grateful Dead Reunion & farewell Concerts over 4th of July weekend @ Chicago's Soldier Field.
Coupled with the 60,000 + people that requested tickets a month earlier through the Bands infamous Mail Order system, that puts it at close to 600,000 people who attempted to get tickets for these Final Shows.
To put a little perspective on this, it means more people tried to get tickets to these shows than actually went to Woodstock.
Kudos to the Band that has always been treated as a "joke" and "red headed step brother" of Rock and Roll by those not "on the bus".
This event solidifies their status as the single most successful touring act in the History of Rock and Roll, Period.
Nice Job Boys,
See you in Chicago!
