Funny thing I thought about yesterday: If alcoholic wine is forbidden (according to the SDA and EGW), and the word wine means grape juice in the bible (in positive contexts), I am wondering why a bishop is not supposed to drink too much grape juice, of course it must be grape juice in that given context cause if it wasnt, it would mean that a bishop can at least drink a little true wine, but as we know wine is forbidden (totally) so it must be grape juice.

Anyone got an idea why a bishop cannot drink too much grape juice? What about regular believers? can they abuse grape juice or should they also consume it with care?

Excellent question. Jesus was called a glutton and a grape juice bibber. Beware of those who tarry too long at the grape juice.

Well, even though I made it look a bit funny, it isnt... it is quite a serious thing IMHO. I mean, how can you explain that stuff to people (drinking is forbidden) if you have to explain that it was actually grape juice that should be consumed with care (by a bishop in this context) and not wine? Wouldnt it be easier to do it like the mormons do? I think they dont drink any alcohol but acknowledge that alcohol existed and was consumed in the good old bible days... this whole grape juice thing seems to me too much of a problem than a blessing,

Grape juice is fine, getting drunk is not. My grammy would make a brew that would knock the hair off your chest by letting fruit juices rot under her bed, same thing happens with grapes if not fresh.

Grape juice is grape juice and wine is wine. Wine was commonly drunk by most everyone back then. If you don't drink wine for personal convictions or reasons, good for you, but to make abstaining a condition of righteousness for everyone is nonsense.

agreed!
