I hope you don't mind me asking in this thread but..

I am extremely fond of praying for the dead and I am familiar with the ways the Orthodox church commemorates the dead.

I was interested in finding out in what ways the Catholic Church commemorates the dead, and the traditions related to it. For instance how a requiem mass is different from a regualr mass, or any services outside of Mass to commemorate the dead, as well as traditions etc.. I would be really interested in finding out if anyone could help explain.
