  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was looking through a website tonight, and my mom caught a glimpse of a star of David pendant over my shoulder. She offered to get it for me for my graduation present. I really like it, but I am also looking at other jewellery ideas as well. A few that I like so far is a simple Star of David and pendant and one that says “Yeshua is the Messiah” in Hebrew. I am looking for something meaningful.

I am wondering if the women here have any ideas, or know of any specific jewellery pieces online, or men, if there is something you would like to recommend as well.

Thank you.:)

Personally, I don't feel comfortable wearing a Star of David. It feels like I am "usurping" a culture that isn't mine (as I'm Gentile).

I have one of these:

http://www.messiahsgifts4u.com/messealrootn.html

I wear it constantly. It symbolizes what I beleive, it makes a clear statement about who I am, and it's unusual enough that people often ask about it...which makes for great opportunites to share.

Blessings,

Shade

I feel the same about the Magen Dovid as Shade... though my concern about it is lessening somewhat I guess... for some reason  But anyway...

I love this lil pendant... "Yerushalayim" the Jerusalem necklace at the bottom of this page:

http://www.tznius.com/cgi-bin/group.pl?id=43

The reason I like it is that I want something that shows my standing for Israel and to me, this would, and it would identify me as being connected with Jerusalem without me misrepresenting myself as a Jew, which the Magen Dovid might do (and that's just me -- I'm not saying you would be doing so if you wore one...) :)

hmmm. I have never thought that way about the Star of David. My parents gave me one that I wore when was young. I grew up with the symbol on different places around our home. Thank you for that consideration. I hope I didn't offend any people by wearing it.

Those are both beautiful pendants.

I can guess the meaning to the one you like Shade, but if there is more meaning that you would like to share, I would love to hear it!

Does the pendant you like say "Jerusalem" in Hebrew? I just watched one of my parent's movies about the Feast of Tabernacle in Jerusalem. It was beautiful.

A little history.

I have been teaching in my church for about4 years. I always teach the same thing (in various ways) and I will continue to do this until they "get the message". The pastors feel that this is my "niche" or "ministry". I teach that the entirety of scripture is a unified whole. I am attempting to "bring the Torah back into the church."

This symbol embodies that concept. The concept that a thorough understanding of the New Testament can only be gained through a thorough understanding of the Old Testament...that Christianity was never intended to be a replacement for Judaism but, rather, a continuation of it. That a true understanding of God can only be gained by studying the Old Testament and the New Testament together .

The Christian church has a history of resentment (to put it mildly) toward the Jewish people. This symbol makes the blunt statement that there is no room for ill-feeling...that everything we believe is dependant upon what they believe.

Yes, I believe it says Yerushalayim. Someone who knows Hebrew better than this newby could tell you for sure, but I think so.

Thank you for the further explanations Shade. Thank you also Zayit for confirming the Hebrew “Jerusalem” and the other suggestions. I have bookmarked Zemi, Zeyit, and Shade’s suggestions in my “favourites”. I will show them to my husband and parents tonight :)

Here is another I like as well:

This one is almost exactly like the one Zayit recommended, but is just a tiny bit different)

This is the Star of David I was mentioning in the OP. But I am now considering in the light of the comments. Thank you. Here it is anyway, if you would like to take a peek.

I would like to find something that connects my faith in Yeshua to the Hebrew roots. I would love further feedback, even if it is just your opinion or aesthetic preference. Although relatively inexpensive, this is still quite a big purchase for my parents, and I love second opinions.

Thank you!

I just wanted to say Dh absolutely loves the Messianic symbol (the Menorah, Magen Dovid and Fish)... he bought two of the symbols to put on our vehicles, recently.. and we are a NOTHING-on-the-car family, strictly, normally ;) no bumper stickers etc. He feels it is one of the best representations of our connectedness with Israel/Judaism as believers in Yeshua.

is the same as what I showed you, just a very close up picture of it. ;)

The one with Yeshua HaMoshiach is nice but would not allow anyone to know from afar what it is, so it would just be personal to you.

I guess it all depends on what you want it to witness to and who you want to reach by wearing it. :)

PS, Zemi, where did your hubby get the car jewelry? I have been looking for those all over!:)
