  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well I graduated from boot camp and my training school....feels so good to spend some time with my wife and kids now! It has definitely been worth it. We feel renewed and excited about where life is taking us!

Glad you got through a good, tough time! Enjoy furlough with your family and have a great time in the far-flung corners of the world as a sailor; you may find that as a tough guy you'll have received your sailor's tattoo in no time!
PS: Don't forget to read your Bible every day!

Farouk, what IS this preoccupation with tattoos?

SPB, congrats... so nice to have a sense of accomplishment and success! I agree with farouk...enjoy your time with your family and celebrate with them.

Thank you! Tattoos are very popular in the Navy....many guys I graduated boot camp with have already gotten tattoos.

Get an anchor one with a rope around it!!

The anchor is an especially popular sailor's tattoo, yes. (These days military wives often end up getting ink as well.) For the believer, the anchor design ties in especially well with Hebrews 6.19.

Blessings.

YW. Yes, and so some of the participants at navy boot camp had already gone out and gotten their navy tattoos? doesn't surprise me.

Congrats, SPB! May this be the beginning of many more fulfilling and exciting steps!

Were you in the navy / military as well? (I used to like the idea of being in uniformed service, but I never made it into the military. Seems like the navy is a very special service.)

Me?? No :) I'm just glad that SPB seems to have found a path that's right for him.

I hope your Navy experience works out better than mine. Congratulations on completing the initial phase of your career. Enjoy your break because your new unit will have many more things for you to do.

Sounds like you didn't get along so well...

Congratulations!

I graduated Navy boot camp exactly 13 years ago today (Sep 14), and finished Battle Stations the morning of 9/11/01. That was a fun few days, let me tell ya...

What's next on your plate? Staying at NTC, or will you be heading somewhere else?
