Hey!

Okay. I admit it. I'm sort of neurotic when it comes to my grades. I guess I just wanted to ask: is there anyone else out there like that? I (jokingly) seem to always be worried when I turn in a paper or take a test. For example, I got an A on every test/paper this semester (yeah, in every class), but I was still concerned about my GPA. But most of my friends are A-Okay with getting C's. Am I just being anal, or are there others out there who are over-achievers (I admit I must be one of those!)

God bless -- Wheezy

I never cared about my grades, as long as I passed. 51%?! SUCEESS!!!
As long as you can throw a good hunting knife, you're fine. Cause A in History won't kill a wild boar, thats for sure. If life hands you lemons, then by golly, shut up and eat the lemons!

It can depend on where you go: A C from an IVY League College or other high-scale college (like my SUNY Geneseo) will be given a lot of attention as if it were a B from a average-scale college.

This, of course, doesn't mean one should only shout for Cs and Bs if they go to such a high ranking institution...

I used to be really anal about my grades, but then I relaxed as I got some B's in high school (I used to get all A's)

and so in college, I kind of was looking for a 3.7 or something, that way I can get a few b's here and there and it won't be a big issue. But instead, unexpectedly, for my first semester of college I got a 4.0...which just means that now I'm going to have to be anal about my grades :p

I'm pretty uptight about my grades. It's kind of a joke with my friends. I'll be sitting there whining about not feeling prepared for a test and they'll be like "would you shut up already?! We ALL know that you got an A". I'm used to be above average so I think I'm afraid of letting my standards slip.

Well I thought that first semester would go really well, and like you I'm very anal about my grades....Well just got the transcript.....Came out of highschool with almost a 3.9, and after first semester of college I'm at a 1.74, ouch.....I'm ticked...since it's similar to an Ivy league type of college, I don't think they are going to ask me to come back next year......I think I qualify as overlly concerned about grades.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! I guess I'm not as alone in my neurotic grade-obsessing as I thought! . . . ABOOT03, I'd probably do much worse if it were an ivy league-ish college! Right now I'm attending Moody Bible Institute's Distance Learning Center, so the classes are hard, but probably not THAT hard! . . . Tyberium - you summed it up exactly! If I don't get an A, I failed. I KNOW I can get an A if I try hard enough, so that's just what I have to do! Although I take it to the extreme at times; I got a 990 out of 1000 in a class this semester and was still a little disappointed - how pathetic is that?!

Anyway. Thanks, everyone! Fight on -- Wheezy

I care a lot about my grades. Last year in High School I though I was failing when I was sitting at an A- (only a 3.7) because I really really really wanted to graduate with a 4.0. I did, and was so happy. In college I said I was just going to do my best, but I still couldn't get that nagging feeling out of my mind. I really wanted an A. Then there was my scholarship, that requires that I get a 3.7 to keep it. I ended up with a 3.7 too. So it was all good. But yeah, you're definately not the only one anal about grades.

yeah .. I'm somewhat anal about grades. In high school I always got high honors and graduated with an over 100 weighted average (because of my advanced placement classes). Now, in college, I'm trying to be less anal about then again but I ended up with a 3.86.. so I guess I still am but in a less demanding way at least. (If that makes sense at all) lol :)

It's really hard for me not to worry about my grades now. In high school, I did what it took to get B's and ended up with a 3.3. But this semester, since I was at a new school and a freshman all over again I decided to try my hardest and I pulled a 4.0 so now it seems like anything else would be regression.

I wish I were anal about my grades... but then it wouldn't matter because the only people that pull 4.0s in my major have a million old tests and kiss up to the profs during office hours. Since I don't have the time or means to do that I'm just your average college student ... don't know where the brains went I graduated from high school with an above 4.0. Oh well...

oh don't worry, I got 9.5/10 and 9/10 on a couple of papers and I was complaining that I could have done better... lol needless to say, I think I could let up a little and live with the fact that I got an A, but I thought I could do better, so I was disappointed... same with some of my other papers. It's weird, because some of my papers I just didn't really care... I guess it just has to be a really important class for me.
