  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You said you were into genealogy, so who is you favorite/coolest ancestor? :)
I would really like to meet Joe Raspberry Essary, the half-breed Indian scout who showed Stephen F. Austin how to get to Texas in 1819. He would be interesting to know. I'm also fascinated by the Sephardic Jews who left Spain around the time of the Inquisition.

I'm also related to a bunch of early Quakers, who probably knew a lot of interesting skills. I would love to learn how to card wool, spin thread, milk goats, etc. from some of the early settlers in Pennsylvania.

That's a wise career ambition, math teachers are in high demand! I envy you, math and I get along like a cobra and a mongoose. :p
It's not always the easiest subject but I like a challenge. I'm also used to teaching younger siblings.

How do you feel about the Churches of Christ?

What man and woman from the Old Testament would you most want to have a meal with?

Sorry, I didn't realize I'd skipped this until just now.

Church of Christ... I am not fond of their denomination. They seem to preach a works based salvation. The local Church of Christ had a sign up last week that said, "All must die. Only the obedient will live forever." I see how that makes sense, but their theology is all too close to that. Obey the Bible's rules. Be a good person

I also dislike the way some groups are against instruments in worship. I think in a way they're very correct. I've seen good churches ruined by a LOOK AT ME! praise band. However, I don't think there's anything wrong with having an organ or piano in a church, especially if it's done in such a way that attention is focused away from the instrumentalists. There's nothing wrong with using good music to glorify God.

I do not know enough about their views on sacraments to answer that.

I suspect that they use the Protestant 66-book Bible. I do not like that, I believe the Deutrocanon should be included in scripture.

Any other ideas I should address?

I think the woman from the Old Testament that I would pick would either be Eve (because she must have been lonely for other female company!) or Sarah, Abraham's wife. It seems that Sarah was a very wise woman and probably knew a lot of things that I would love to learn.

The man I would most like to meet would be

I just thought of Solomon. YES. No. Wait a minute. A rich king with a thing for women...

What really matters.

Ok, I pick Noah. He's another person from whom I could learn a great deal.
