  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Romans 7 is super cool, because the last half of the chapter gives us an amazing definition of how the human mind works when it does not have the Spirit of God. Romans 7 is massive to understanding how the Holy Spirit works in our lives, or in the case of Romans 7, this passage set shows us how we think without the Holy Spirit, the one whom grants us the ability to obey.

Having been justified from faith, Paul writes, justification's become ours, we've entered into it through faith.

The enmity between God and us has been erased. This peace's based upon the atonement. Through Christ's mediation this peace has been brought about, through him by whose agency we also have had access by faith to that grace in which we now stand.

The entrance lies open before us. Jesus has opened the door which leads to grace. Through him we have a standing as Christians.

So the relation of peace toward God. We're justified from sins, there's no obstruction between God and us. As a consequence, we boast upon hope's basis.

The Christian's hope's a possession, on account of which they glory, because this hope's object is God's glory, of which we'll partake.

The future which opens up before the believer's eyes' of a nature calculated to make their life anticipation's waiting. So we glory in tribulations also, we make our boast of them. Their presence is rejoicing's source to us, since tribulation is followed by patience, and patience by approval, and approval by hope.

The present life's afflictions result in our benefit. In these trials our faith's approved. The first benefit is steadfastness. The more the trials, the more need there's of endurance. This endurance produces approvedness.

During the affliction, faith's on trial. If it's of the right kind, it will emerge from the crucible purified, it'll be strengthened in the hope of God's glory.

The Christian's hope must bring salvation. This blessing makes their life an awaiting of the glory which will be revealed on Judgment Day.
