I had heard a sermon about American civil governemntal principles coming from Biblical principles. I would generally agree, as it seems the law was derived from the Ten Commandments. But it goes beyond that. Isaiah 33:22 says "The Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king, it is he who will save us." This suggests that seperation of powers originated with the Bible.
Finally, with man being sinful in nature, the system of checks and balances set in place by the founding fathers seems to have been set in place to diminish the blow of imperfect and sinful leaders.
Does anyone have thoughts or views on this?
