  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

By the way this "trend" is hilarious, IMO.... I mean.... they were doing this when I was in high school 1989-1993... And before that... Ever hear of The Cure? :)

 I graduated in 1986. Same then too.:D

My father is a Permanant Deacon, and a DRE for 30 years. I think it bothered him the most when he would pick me up from school, and see that. It does look rather satanic, especially the ones at my school who covered their black clothes with skelatons.

Goths to me are kind of creepy if you ask me. but you see I don't no any but I do have 2 friends that are skin heads.
Goths aren't skinheads, or neonazis, for that matter. It's important not to perpetuate stereotypes and misconceptions of those with whom you have little contact.

My apologies. I thought that you were associating goths with skinhead ideology.

And there are hundreds, if not thousands, living in America and Europe, most being in Germany, with the highest concentration in Leipzig.

Wouldn't surprise me. I was actually sorta gothy for a while. I ended up being more of a deadhead, but... I still look good in black clothes with a black trenchcoat. I'm not really pale enough, and I don't like makeup, though.

Hey, sometimes I wear black clothes and parade-black-polish-shined steel-toe workboots, and I've been called just about everything. Unfortunately, this type of dress is only occasional, since the boots hurt my excessively wide feet.

I spent years wearing heavy boots. I still love 'em; unfortunately, I hate shoes in general. But if I have to wear shoes, black steel-toed boots are my friends.

Unconditional love and acceptance. It's an amazing thing, rather elusive...

Indeed. But outcasts understand it better than most other people do, I've found.

They just came out with a self-titled CD this year. They've diverged from the gothic sound over the years, but this new CD is a little more like their old school stuff. They're not my favorite band, and I can't sit through the entire CD without starting to feel a little annoyed, but hey, they're ok. Maybe I'm just biased toward neo-/industro-goth, who knows. :D

There's a band called Snake River Conspiracy that did what I believe to be the best ever cover of Lovesong.

I'm a bit of an opponent of staunch paleness advocates, simply for the reason that people with darker skin find it horrendously difficult to go pale-as-death-white.

There are some incredible industrial-vein boots out there that I'd love to have, but they're too expensive, for one thing, and they don't make them, or at least I can't find them in, extra wide (E width).

Tell me about it. If most of what you know is rejection, then you try extra hard to accept others. Ostracized people value unconditional love and acceptance.

I haven't listened to their stuff yet. Maybe I'll check them out.

Yeah. I have one friend who's legally-black, and I tan darker than her some summers! I'm doomed to failure as a "goth".

I think Red Wing Shoes makes shoes that wide, and they make excellent industrial boots. Real, serious, non-skid rubber, steel toes... Great shoes.

And, generally, if you offer them some, they offer it right back.

I'm fond of 'em. Drop me a PM sometime, and I'll give you the list of "music I've run into I think you might like". :)
