  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was out shooting (with my camera) and this fella came up and asked me for a light.

Tankers. These birds are highly domesticated. They where at a pond in a trailer park and don't get around much during the summer. The local yocals feed them so they don't need to do much foraging, but still you find the occasional bird out eating grass like this fella.
They'll waddle right up to you and if you have something they decide they want, they'll battle you for it. So be for-warned.

hehehe, That's one good reason for using long lenses on them :D

Right. A long lens is usually heavier and will do more damage when you conk them over the head with it. :D

Actually that's a good reason to keep an old Nikon F body in your camera bag. Makes a great weapon.

@ Chaz: Naw, I'm a Canon man. I haven't crossed over to Nikon. I've tried their cameras but I'm still overwhelmed by the awesome cosmic power of the Canon Rebel XTi. It's a sweety pie. :)

@ Mark; I try to keep a bit of humor in everything I do. I deal with a truck load of pain due to an old injury so the humor keeps me going. It's either that or be cross all day and that's no fun at all. :p

Photography is something I really enjoy and it helps keep my mind off the pain. Plus I get paid to do it so that's even better. :p

No doubt the entire Canon Digital EOS line is pretty great. I just bough a used Rebel. The first one with no letters.
But I was speaking strictly in self defense terms. The Nikon I was talking about is of early 70's vintage. At that time they were, hands down, the most durable, and probably heaviest 35mm body out there.

As for my obvious, and some would say irrational, dislike of geese, I'd say that I don't dislike them in the least. Especially properly roasted with a nice cranberry sauce. :D In terms of the live ones, yes, they scare me. Probably has something to do with the fact that one bit me on the knee when I was a little kid.
