Appreciating The New Birth
God says: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him" - John 3:36; also, "He that has [possesses] the Son has life, and he that has not the Son of God has not life" [eternal] - 1 Jn. 5:10-12; so, the word to mankind is very plain. Salvation is not about just believing in God, but receiving the Savior, and one needs to own and confess one's sins to Him. One ought to read John 1, John 3, John 14 in their Bible and then pray to God to teach one ---the KJV and NKJV are recommended for this for a dependable rendering.
When one receives the Lord Jesus into their heart and is devoted to Him, who died on the Cross for us, He will enter into that one by His Holy Spirit (a new birth --John 3), and one will thus be sealed forever as a "child of God" (John 6:27; 2 Cor. 1:22) --and one cannot be unborn, and can then go forth settled and at peace trusting the promise and love of God. See the presence of the Trinity of God in one at John 14:23.

To understand the new birth one needs to appreciate that it is a finished work. The process begins by the "quickening" of God (awakening -arousal of conscience), then an inquiry and searching might begin by one, which may lead to a profession and practice of some of the truth (Kingdom of Heaven) and then we hope a possession of the truth (Kingdom of God). One must possess this new life in Christ by receiving Him in faith, and determining to have Him as lord of one's life --not just trying to follow the teachings of Christ (John 4:24-26). It speaks of surrender of our will to Him ---a precious truth.
The true believer can then study Acts and the Epistles to see what the Christian life and testimony ought to be in the world, and begin a faithful and happy walk with the Lord. Reading the Old Testament then can help one with their understanding of creation, and the sure mercies of God; which for Israel was in obedience, worship, and their sacrifices, which foreshadowed their Messiah --Jesus, the Christ of God, the eternal hope for all mankind.

PLAIN GOSPEL TRUTH
[The essence of salvation of our soul is true faith, and is that faith which is placed in our Creator-God only by His way as in John 3:16 and John 14:6. We often hear souls speaking of belief in God and not sure of Heaven, and wondering if God hears them, etc. God hears, but waits upon us to come in a right spirit. The Gospel ---good news of God as shown in His Holy Word, is all about salvation of our soul and a relationship for man with God through faith in His beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ --not by religious works, good thoughts, and doctrines. God made it simple for one who is earnest and sincere to obtain salvation, and is ready to confess one's sin before our Creator. Is one ready to humble himself and receive "the gift" (Rom. 6:23)? - R. DeWitt, 2013; rev. 07/14] God says: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him" - John 3:36; also, "He that has [possesses] the Son has life, and he that has not the Son of God has not life" [eternal] - 1 Jn. 5:10-12; so, the word to mankind is very plain.
