  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone heard much about it? Look for it sometime in 2005. Looks like the original cast (20 years later), but I'm not sure about the storyline. Oh well, I am a huge Goonies fan, so I'll have to see it. I'm a little excited about it...I hope it's worth it. :)

yet another pointless sequel derived with the primary goal to make money. That means little though goes into coming up with an enjoyable plot. The just try to capitalize on the novelty of an earlier film. I'll wait until I see previews until I decide to see it...but I can't say I'm expecting much.

What a coincidence, I was just watching the dvd last night. I've heard about a sequel for a few years now but it's either been a hoax or the plan was dropped. I do know that nothing comes up for it at the internet movie database but there is this one site that reports such a project exists: http://www.killermovies.com/g/thegoonies2/articles/3303.html

This news story has been around for years though just the date on it gets changed. The only other difference is in the past the new plot would only involve Chunk's kids.

The dvd is great because it has some deleted scenes that make the rest of the movie better. For example at the end of the movie a giant octupus is mentioned even though that wasn't in the story. In the deleted scenes you see the Goonies fight a giant octupus. I also learned that Troy, the jerk, is the son of the guy evicting the families of the goonies.

Personally I would like to see another Goonies movie and I like Cyndi Lauper music (although the song she did for that movie wasn't very good) but I think Goonies 2 is a hoax. Supposedly Spielburg is involved in the movie to be released in 2005 but here is Spielburg's plans:"Into the West" (2005) (miniseries) (announced executive producer), War of the Worlds (2006) (announced producer), "Untitled World War II Pacific Theater Project" (2005) (mini) TV Series (announced executive producer), Jurassic Park IV (2005) (pre-production executive producer), Memoirs of a Geisha (2005) (pre-production executive producer), Talisman, The (2005) (pre-production executive producer), Untitled Steven Spielberg 1972 Olympics Project (2006) (pre-production producer), and Zorro 2 (2005) (pre-production producer).

It could very well be a hoax, but I did see where Sean Astin said on theonering.net that he was set to start shooting it. That was when the Fellowship of the Ring was released.

Having said that, I think one of the reasons they wanted to make the sequel to Goonies was due to Astin's sudden rise in popularity for being Samwise. They knew his new fans as well as the original movie fans would want to see it.

Either way, I love the original, I watched about 200 times as a kid and I would see the sequel just to see how they would even attempt to recapture the magic.

I heard about Goonies 2 in the Entertainment magazone. I'm not looking forward to it at all. One reason the first one is such a lcassic was the edge that the little kids had. Chunk ruled the movie with his goofiness and Mouth had all the witty comments. But if they return and are 20 years older, it's not going to be special. it will be a group of grown-ups running around tryin to have adventures. Not that exciting.
