Wow! That's your website?? I found it near the beginning of my er.."apostolic faith journey"...back in the days when I was pre-catechumenate for the Orthodox church...it's a very good source. Thank you for making it.Anonykat said:If you want some "Orthodoxy 101" type apologetics, check out my website... http://stienekel.tripod.com/
It was designed for my Protestant family, but I would imagine it might have whatever info you'd like to know....
My Antiochian parish doesn't have any pews either.St. Tikon said:Wasn't aware OCA had churches with no pews...

By the way, I have an icon of St. Nicholas the Tsar-Martyr and his family. In fact, I had it at church tonight because I was having several of my new icons blessed.
Hehe..no, it's okay. I just changed my faith icon a couple days ago. I figured I was getting to the point where I should make a decision. But I'm not an offical member of the Catholic church yet.Anonykat said:No kidding!!! Wow.
So...uh... what happened???
er... I mean, you became Catholic, or...??
I'm really curious. You can mail me privately if you like.
Or tell me to buzz off if I'm being just too darn nosy.
Is it like the one that I attached above? The one above is the one I have on my wall. It's a little copy I got from St. Isaac's of Syria.St. Tikon said:I have a copy of the original that hangs in the Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville......

Even before I became Orthodox I loved the Russian royal family, and when I found out that my church considers them saints, I was a little surprised, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense to me. The people at my parish seemed surprised that I would have an icon of such, well, Russian-oriented saints, since neither my heritage nor my jurisdiction are Russian. But they did understand once I explained, among other things, that I have a special affection for these martyrs because they are a family.

I think Katherine only meant it as kind of a joke.nyj said:This is the second time I've seen comments like this in this thread, and I've got to admit, I'm a bit disappointed. If I could only understand why the Orthodox treat Catholics with such disdain when those feelings are not reciprocated here.

Ok, thank you for the clarification. However, St. Tikon did ask for a week to come up with information to convince her of the betterness* of Orthodoxy. That didn't sound like a joke to me. Perhaps I should have made my comment there, instead of here. My apologies.Anonykat said:It was absolutely just a joke...

As for my dog, she's taking a bit of a rest and may be back soon.

I know it wasn't a joke. I know you were serious. I guess I need to change my approach when it comes to people who are considering the Orthodox faith. Back when IDD was open, I took a lot of flak for saying that I saw no problem with someone considering Orthodoxy, over Catholicism, because pushing the case for Catholicism, when at least from my viewpoint there was no heresy between us, simply schism, seemed to be nothing but sour grapes and sheep stealing. I guess I need to reconsider this though.St. Tikon said:I meant every word I said. I see nothing wrong with trying to convert someone to my faith. As I said, this is an ORTHODOX forum.
