Im really interested in that kitchen air vent thing (that looked like an induction range top at first). My Mom and Stepdad had a second kitchen just off the house, in an open, screened dining room. I called it my Bacon Kitchen because you could cook anything savory for hours and never smell up the house (and clothes, etc.). The beef mist just disappeared through the screens.

I have never owned a home but one thing I would have to have is a Bacon Kitchen (or something like this lady's).

That’s neat! Bacon and fish smells can linger for hours. My needs are a wee bit smaller. A cheese cave and place for curing is enough. My biggest caveat is rodents. How do you keep them out?

I make French Flageolet Beans and add bacon/pork belly to it. They're crazy good. With the requisite corn bread to accompany.

Autumn Seed Saving

I love collecting seed from my own garden, don't you? I will be talking about the miraculous seed, and referring to a fabulous old garden book, circa 1916, which was written to teach gardening to children. Afterwards we'll head into the Potager where fall and winter crops have just been sown from seed and a new chapter begins for Autumn and Winter gardening.
