Good..Solution?

Remember the girl in my algebra class who wants to abort her baby, i'm sure you all do.

Today she said she couldn't wait til after Halloween or Christmas I believe. (I believe she means, because she wants to kill her baby!)
If I could, I would reach around and slap her! She, is being selfish, she wants to live her life, by killing her child! Does she not understand, it's a living being, that deserves to live like she does? It makes me angry, i'm angry at her, for wanting to do that!

But, i've got a solution, if she doesn't want her child...I do. I'm willing to give up, being a nun, or whatever my vocation to take her baby. I would take care of it (if I took it, I wouldn't have a choice). I before I left for Texas, not to end up like Cathy (my biological mom), or anyone else to break the cycle. Cathy was 19 when she had me, i'm 18, but I wouldn't be like her, and not take care of a child.

Tommorrow, i'm going to the Cathedral for the Vocations Day for Youth, i'll tell you all how it goes. I can't believe I said, I said, i'd give up being a nun, the thought gives me chills I do believe! But, I should defeat my self-will, yes? Do only God's will, which is what I should work on!

Renee, It sounds like you even tried talking to this person about trying every other option like adoption instead abortion...Adoption may be the best option for this person. Please keep us posted.

I think, I did mention adoption, i'm not really sure. But I think I am going to talk to her Monday, and give her my offer, the only problem is, I do live with relatives, I don't live on my own!

Renee, you know that isnt the best way of going about things. I mean, I know where you are coming from completely, its emotions getting in thier disrupting your ability to think clearly, and God knows I am probably more guilty of that than most people on this board, but taking things out on the person isnt good. We are all sinners, we all have that inclination, but we are all children of God too, and we all have that faint little tweak of hipe within us that allows the possibility for repentance. Just because you or I havent actually commited murder doesnt mean we havent commited it a thousand times in our hearts. This girl has the potential to be a saint, just like you and I have the potential to be damned. In fact, we WOULD be damned right now if it werent for the mercy of God. God's mercy is everything, if we didnt have that mercy, wed be just as guilty as the girl who commited abortion. It is only by his grace that we have avoided that sin.

Your offer to adopt might be what makes her realize how important the baby's life is. I once saw the exact situation you are describing, where someone went up to a friend who was considering abortion and said "If you don't want the child you are carrying, I do. Giving this child the chance to live is more important to me than my own plans for the future." The person offering to adopt was single, in school, and would have been much more adversly affected by parenthood than the girl who was pregnant, and I think that made the girl realize that she was being selfish. She decided to keep the baby, and it's due in December.

Take pictures-- show this young woman what her baby looks like right now. My advice is to offer to help her find an adoptive family, and if she doesn't want to do that- tell her you'll raise the baby. Offer to go with her to all of her OB appointments. Most of all pray! Have a Mass said for her and one for the baby!!
