Good Soil
Matthew 13:23... But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
Jesus often compared the kingdom of God to a seed planted in the hearts of men and women. This seed will only grow if we give it the proper "care and feeding". The good soil represents a heart that seeks to listen to God's word, seeks to understand it and then commits to it.
How can we be good soil? How can we prepare our hearts? How can we start? How about if we try to keep the greatest commandments?
Mark 12:30-31... Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.
Choose to prepare your heart - try to encourage 'good soil'. Keep tending this soil, help the seed within your heart grow - you never know what might 'spring' forth.

Thank You Lord for Your word. Help each of us continue to prepare our hearts, to make them good soil. Help each heart seek to listen & understand Your word, help each then commit to it. Help each of us love You with all our hearts, all our souls, all our minds, all our strength and love our neighbors as ourselves. Thank You that as each does this 'seed' will grow, with Your help, in Your time. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
