what do you think of their new stuff?????. I really like it. Even though they are secular. I usually only listen to Christian, but I know where to draw the line. what do you think?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Their new album was surprisingly good (I liked it more than Relient K's new album, anyway) and I liked most of the songs. Keep Your Hands Off My Girl sucked, though, IMO.

i knew a guy in basic who was convinced that this was punk.
he asked what kind of music i like and this is how it went
me: metal, punk-
him: you like punk?
me: yeah, stuff like the casualties, the vandals, lower class brats...
him: that stuff's stupid
me:why?
him: good charlotte is f-ing gay man
me: i don't like them, and who convinced you they were punk?
him: dude, they have black clothes, and chains and spikes and mohawks, THEY'RE PUNK
me: holy...
then, i spent about three minutes trying to tell him that he had no idea what he was talking about. I still haven't gotten those three minutes back

Lol, Good Charlotte is like my guilty pleasure. I honestly think most of their lyrics are horrible (not from a Christian/secular perspective, but in terms of their songwriting skills), but I bought "Good Morning Revival" the day it came out because I was curious, and I'll admit that I did find "The River" to be quite catchy.
Unfortunately, "The River" was in my opinion, the very best song on the album, and nothing really cements the fact that GC is not punk than this CD as it's extremely pop-infused.
On the bright side, their music isn't all that depressing anymore, and "Good Morning Revival" is definitely better than their previous, "Chronicles of Life and Death."

I don't care that they're 'mainstream'. It's more that pop-punk is a terrible musical form. Punk itself is a very simple form of music, a few chords being played in 4/4 time...it's extremely simplistic, yet at least good punk has that aggression going for it that makes it somewhat enjoyable.
Pop/Punk has all the simplicity, yet without the aggression...which makes for this fluffy, overly simplified, suagr coated blah.
