I have decided there is no futher point in me posting here. I did enjoy many times here and I am still a member of the Adventist church, at least for now. I am keeping my Adventist icon. But I have to make some decisions and I don't think the conversations I need to have are welcome here.

I will still be discussing in Denominational Specific Theology for those who want to. And I am still corresponding through email with a professor who is addressing some of the issues. I may pop in here if there is something I just can't resist comment on, but I do not plan to regularly post here anymore.

I don't think I will be able to reconcile all of this or remain an Adventist pastor much longer. I will make a decision then on staying in the church after that decision if necessary.

I am sorry if some of my comments as of late have hurt people in the forum. I do not hate the church. I have come to know Christ in the church and am forever grateful for that. But I don't know if I will be able to work out my questions.

God bless each of you.

Why, oh why are so many here afraid of questioning??? I just don't understand. :(

TSDA's like to boast they are so grounded in the 'truth' and that they will not be blown by every wind of doctrine. Fine. If that is really true, why should it matter how intense Tall's questions get? Why feel threatened by this? Why run and hide in the Traditional subforum or just leave the forum and not engage Tall?

Oh, I forgot. He is the apostate minister now, capable of theologically contaminating the pure ones. Are your convictions really that weak?!

Oh, but 'EGW predicted this would happen' they say, so why be bothered dialoging with someone ear-marked for Hell, right?

Instead of helping him to resolve his issues, some just beg him to leave the church quietly or post insulting, offensive, idiotic pictures that imply he and his wife stupid. Like that solves anything! They just remain in ignorance to the issues and don't want to face the reality of things. They would just rather sweep him under the theological rug and protect thier little EGW bubble from the big, bad, tewwible questioning pastor.

Why are people so suprised at the questioning going on here? I have been in this church for over 20 years and there was never a time when EGW was not questioned at some point. None of the forums I have been on in the past have been immune to it. Is this new for some? I don't know.

Those who are irritated by Tall's inquiries would do well to face the fact that times have changed. We have full disclosure with the internet in regards to her. No longer are the people protected, shielded and sheltered under the wings of the EGW Estate. Thanks to Walter Rea, Dirk Anderson and Dale Ratzlaff, the issues are out there and they will be addressed, wether some like it or not.

The question we need to ask ourselves is, is it more productive to fight against honest inquiry (which is going to happen regardless), or run away plugging our ears and closing our eyes, lamenting the fact that the seekers won't just leave the church and quit challenging what has always been accepted through tradition?

No, instead they regard Tall's questions as 'hate' and 'attacks' against EGW. What nonsense! How insulting for this pastor who respects her and has never at all questioned she was a fine Christian woman.

Someone please explain to me how asking legitimate questions about her writings has somehow now become 'attacking' her, because I would really like to know!

If that is all these people seem to be able to gather from this, then maybe it is better that the discussion is carried on elsewhere. It is painfully apparent that some are incapable of handling it.

As for those who actually took the time and effort to dialogue with Tall, thank you. You at least have that to your credit.

Take care Tall. I am sorry this forum could not rise to the occasion for you.

I hate to see you leave.

There is no question about it, this forum is a very unfriendly place. And I don't blame you for wanting to leave it.

But to leave the church over the issues that you are struggling with, I don't think that is a good idea.

Where are you going to go? You know there is no other Christian denomination out there that has as much light as we do.

I think you should be very careful about the decision that you are going to make on this matter.

It would be nice if everything made perfect sense to us. The problem however, is that this just isn't the way life works.

Take a break from your studies, and enjoy life. After resting for a little while, then get back into it.

Tall it will be sad to see you go.

I will probally follow you out as I am struggling with the same issues and find having a discussion on any issue almost impossible. I am not quite ready to throw in the towel, though.

I think I have seen what adventism is all about.

:sigh: :(

I'm really sad to see you go tall. As I've said to you before, you really were the father of the SDA forum, and I thank you....

Icedragon101 and tall. I really can understand your decisions. I myself am also facing the same questions and decision about staying in the church. As I'm young any advice you have about what you've found out about "it" I would appreciate if you could PM it to me, to help me make my decision. I might be close behind you, once I "throw in the towel" That's why my symbol is now christian. I was aiming to be an SDA pastor, but now who know if I'll even be an SDA.

Back to you tall, I really admire you. I look up to you. As all the Pastors I know say that if there was a church that stuck to the Bible more, they would leave the SDA church. Though I doubt it. I had a great time knowing you, and I look foward to seeing you in the kingdom,as I know true truth seekers such as yourself will be there.

I admire you, because you seek the truth and follow and hold steadfast to that. The Bible, and not man or tradition. I'm really sad to see you go, but may God help you as you seek him diligently with the heart I think we should all have. May this text below encourage your searching, God Bless. :groupray:

You helped me in every step since I came here, and I consider you a good friend and a sincere christian brother. I know the difficult path ahead and only say, that if I erred in anything I said to you, please forgive me, and if you see the books in heaven look up Red and make sure he made it and I will do the same....

Tall, I'm too much of a newbie on this forum to appreciate all you've been through, or to know all that you are struggling with. But you are my brother in Christ; you have my respect and my prayers as you grapple with your questions and decisions. I know what it is to question as a pastor; I have my struggles too. They may not be the same as yours, but that is neither here nor there. I know that as you walk with the Lord, He will be your support and guide, knowing that as you cling to Him in faith, He will never let you go. God be with you always,

In Christ's love,

Colin

I came to this church while searching for the truth. Now it appears you want to leave it for the same reason. Something is wrong with this picture. I have said it many times before that the SDA church's doctrines are not perfect but why leave the only church that has the most truth? Unless you form your own group you will not find another church that has the truth like we do. Additionally, I have seen nothing you have brought up that is dangerous to jeopardize salvation.

I've appreciated discussing issues with you here. I wish you well in all you do.

May God Bless you,
Jim Larmore

I also think it is a mistake to go, we often leave one set of problems for another. The SDA church is desperately in need of a broader theological understanding and if those with a broader understanding leave the status quo of the church remains the same.

Pastors are unique in the SDA church in that as denominational employees they actually have the most freedom. That is good in many ways and we should not let those who complain about the church paying salaries having to tow a specific line. The SDA church is in the midst of change which is why there is so much friction.

Tall,

God bless you as you continue to study His word. You appear to be a man of integrity and I respect that. One word of caution, I have read testimonies of and seen with some I know what happens when you take the step that you are close to taking. As you decide to accept or reject the church and its teachings, just remember to let the bible always be your guide. Many have decided that EGW is a false prophet and thus everything she says is false. The same with the teachings of the church. Please do not reject biblical truth, such as the sabbath, to justify your decisions. Unfortunately, for most this is the sad reality.

Again, may God bless you as you continue is your walk with Him. The Church of Christ is a spiritual church one made up of people from many different faiths, the one thing they all have in common is they love Jesus with their whole heart and live their lives to serve Him in everything they do. May you grow in your love for your Savior.

Hi Tall73,

I don't mean to throw you or anyone else a curve ball but something in RC_N.P.s last post caught my attention. He said:
"Pastors are unique in the SDA church in that as denominational employees they actually have the most freedom. That is good in many ways and we should not let those who complain about the church paying salaries having to tow a specific line. The SDA church is in the midst of change which is why there is so much friction."
What caught my attintion is highlited in red.

Are you actually being treated as an employee, or you being treated as an independant cotractor? I will not go beyond this question here in a public forum. I'm sure however that you must know what I'm talking about eventhough others probably don't. A PM would be appreciated.

Your brother in Christ,
Doc

Tall73,

I am a first generation SDA since 1976.

When I first came into contact with a SDA couple, I studied with them for the sole purpose of proving them wrong from the Bible on such things as the Sabbath, the state of the dead, etc. Instead of proving them wrong though, my studies/research convicted me that I was the one that was holding on to false doctrine on such things as Sunday being the Lord's day, going straight to heaven or a eternally burning hell at death, etc.

As a result of all my research on the above and more, I changed from being an United Baptist Christian to a Seventh-day Adventist Christian.

I have also read about what is being said about Ellen White, the Investigative Judgment, etc., however, I am still under the conviction of the Holy Spirit that these are from God, therefore, until I am convicted otherwise, I am and will remain a Seventh-day Adventist. I do not intend to be one of those who will be shaken out.

As I am busy as the administrator of Maritime SDA OnLine, I haven't been reading here much lately, therefore, I do not know what's been happening here in relation to what's been posted and responded to, however, you are welcome to ask these questions over there, as we have special private forums set up for such a purpose.

The devil is as a roaring lion seeking who he may deceive and devour, therefore, I pray that you will do deeper research before making any decision.

Hi Tall

While, of course, as I believe this church is of the truth and speaks it, I am sad to see you go I am also happy that you are willing to go and search out the truth. It is very hard to leave a denomination and accept that perhaps you were wrong, particularly if you were a pastor! I hope that you will have your questions answered soon and find the truth! ^_^

Let the bible guide you ^_^

As to not posting in the Adventist forum I appear to be calming down and re-thinking things. There are too many interesting points to post on to just leave. Sorry for causing a scene.

I am still working through the other issues.
