  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good books

I just finished reading an awesome book called Gift-wrapped by God: Secret Answers to the question 'Why Wait?' by Linda Dilliard & Lorraine Pintus.  It gives stories of women who waited until their wedding night for sex, and of women who did not.  It uses scripture to back it up.  It really ministers to women who have lost their virginity outside of marriage and for those who waited or are waiting.  Any other books out there to help out Christian singles?

Not that this is only for singles, but "A Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel is good for those "intellectual types."

The best book I have read on relationships and sex is "Solomon on Sex." For the life of me I can't remember the author. Unfortunately the book is out of print. I highly recommend a book on the Song of Solomon. That little book in the bible is the manual on relationships we have all been overlooking.

WHat else...I like Bruce Metzger. He is the textual guru. I like Raymond Brown, William Barclay, F.F. Bruce.
Good publishers are Zondervan, InterVarsity, Anchor, and I think Baker if I have the name right.

Ooh! There's an awesome book out there on remaining pure for your future spouse. And it's also on regaining your purity if you've already lost it (a definite plus!). It's called And the Bride Wore White by......Diane Gresh, I think it is. It is an AWESOME book. I highly recommend it!

In Him,
Anna

 I'm sorry  ...I've never read the book...I just heard it was good...

I would never suggest something I thought would be bad :o
But a book does not have to be CHRISTIAN to be good.

So if you want a GOOD read...read He Chose the Nails by Max Lucado...or God Chasers by Tommy Tenney

Yes vegan which is exactly why I was warning RayNay about it.
I haven't read the book so I don't know how much the movie departed from it. But I assume the book is probably shocking. I'm sure poor RayNay would like to know that with out getting beat up over mentioning it.

Now, I don't consider myself close minded but I feel pretty confident in saying that I'm not missing out on anything if I don't read the book.
I'm going to guess that it is social commentary that I can live without. However, if you want to see an "interesting" point of view about crime and punishment, then by all means, read the book.
If I was going to recommend someone to read, I'd say Jack Kerouac, William Faulkner. Those guys are good.

One of my favourite books of all time (I haven't read it for a long time though) is The spirit controlled temprement by Dr Tim LaHaye. It was a real eye opener for me looking at your personality type and what that means for your faith.
