• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey, ladies. I just wanted to post, I found this book I'm really excited about.
It's called: "Feeding Your Appetites" by Stephen Arterburn. I had never herad of it before, but happened upon it, and so far LOVE it. These are the quotes that attracted me to it:
"Our appetites are like fire! They can fill our lives with warmth, or they can become an uncontrolled inferno that is capable of destoying a career, a marriage, a soul."
"Did you know you were born hungry? We all were. And that's a good thing, according to authors Stephen Arterburn and Dr. Debra Cherry. We all come into this world with appetites - for food and drink, beauty and pleasure, sex and companionship, meaning and significance, and spiritual fulfillment. God created us that way, and He didn't do it to tempt or torment us. Our yearnings and desires are desgned to keep us alive, to draw us together in realtionhship, and to enrich our lives with pleasure and enjoyment. The trouble is, appetites don't always work as they were intended......."
So, I'm only 3 chapters in, but it's a smooth read, and it's really right on so far. Lot's of scripture.
So, I wanted to share, I would recommend it to anyone as an encouragement.
Have a good day.
I'll update when I'm done, if anyone's interested!
:)

Okay, so I haven't finished this book yet (Feeding your Appetites), got halfway through, it's great so far, but I leant it to a good friend who struggles with ed. So I will finish it after she does.
BUT has anyone ever heard of, or read, "Love to Eat, Hate to Eat", by Elyse Fitzpatrick? I am almost done with it and I love it so much I'm about to begin a book study in my church with 5 ladies who are trying to come in balance and recovering. They are all excited about it. Wanted to get some opinions, and also recommend it. It is REALLY scriptual and very balanced between truth and grace.
