I think I've changed more in my forties than in any other previous decade in my life.
I became a Christian when I was 19. I'm now 49. In the past couple of years, I've really questioned WHY I believe WHAT I believe. Interesting - a friend of mine from high school, also a Christian, recently told me that she felt the same thing.
When I was first saved, I know that I needed Jesus because He was the only one who could help me out of the mess I'd made with my life. I think the best thing at this time of my life is that I truly CHOOSE to want to walk closer to the Lord. My decisions aren't based on what I think someone else expects of me - they truly are MY decisions. They are based on what I feel the Lord says in His Word and from my experience with Him. I love it. I wouldn't want to go back.
Also, I was so busy in the previous decades raising my kids and being sure that they were being raised in a Godly home, that I was very involved in that. My walk with the Lord was there and showing (I think), but it was mixed in with all my other responsibilities.
Now I am mainly responsible for myself and my own walk with the Lord.
I am constantly in the process of learning new and exciting things about God and myself - even at my age (both physically and spiritually). Things still can be difficult, but I try to keep reminding myself that God IS ultimately in control.
Any other forties feeling the same things?
Let me know what you're seeing the Lord doing at this stage for you!
