  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought the music and graphics were excellent, and the puzzles were fairly well-designed. The story is kind of slow-moving, though. Chrono Trigger proves that a slow-moving story isn't a requirement for an RPG, so I the fact that golden Sun is an RPG isn't an excuse for this.

My biggest problem with Golden Sun is something that would have been easy for the developers to fix, and I don't know why they didn't. In a battle, if the enemy that I've instructed one of my characters to attack dies before my character gets the chance to attack it, this character doesn't attack at all and goes into defense mode. It would have been easy for the developers to make it so characters in this situation would simply attack the enemy closest to the one that they were instructed to attack if it dies before they could do so, and it would be a lot more convenient for the player. This is also the way it is in Chrono Trigger.

I wonder if anyone is considering re-releasing Chrono Trigger for the GBA. There are already a lot of SNES games that have been re-released for it, and Chrono Trigger is one of the SNES's best RPGs.

I was thinking about getting that game.

As for the battle problem, that's how the old Dragon Warrior games were. But instead of going into defense mode, the character would basically strike the air. ugh...It was so annoying. But yeah, companies shouldn't make games like that. It's pointless, and it just drags out the battle.

I hope they start releasing good new games. They've done a whole lot of re-releasing, and I'm kind of tired of it. Chrono Trigger would be a better re-release; but they need to stop making cheap versions of Metroid and Super Mario. I mean...why should I play games I've already beaten a million times? Because it's not like those other games are any good. hmmm

Golden Sun has some unbelievable graphics for the GBA. Although I agree that the story was incredibly slow, and the battle system had it's annoyances. Also, and I won't post any spoilers, I didn't like the way they ended the first one at all.

I do wish they'd re-release Chrono Trigger. A portable version of the greatest RPG ever made (besides Suikoden II of course)? I'm down. I know they already re-released it on the Playstation, but I prefer to play it on my SNES because the PS version moves way too slowly, and the game stutters every time a random battle starts.
