I say it is Honolulu :)

Congratulations Gail Sis'

"Honolulu, when translated, means, "SHELTERED HARBOUR"

Your blessings and another question will follow \o/

You are very welcome Gail Sis'

Question # 44

What is my name

For 1,000 blessings, tell me, What am I called ?

I am the smallest of the continents, I am also the lowest [closest to sea-level]
and also the flattest
and, apart from Antartica, I am also the driest ?????

Question # 45

If you drew a dot on the edge of a wheel
and traced the path of the dot as the wheel rolled
one complete revolution along a line,
then the path formed would be called a cycloid
(shown below), combining both forward and circular motion.
What is the length of the path formed by one complete revolution?
Assume the wheel has a radius of, 1.

For 1,000 blessings, tell me
the length of the path travelled

Question # 46

Hummmmmmmmmmmmm

For 1,000 Blessings, please tell me, 'the reason'

Why do we hear a humming sound
occurring in h HT transmission line?
[example: overhead power cables and supply transformers]

No, I am sorry, that is not the correct answer Sue

Please try again
had to look it up.
Corona effect and hysteresis loss

Corona Effect: In high voltage lines the air around the
conductors is ionised and will cause a humming noise

Hysteresis loss: the wires continue to hum because of alternate magnetic reversal of the conductor molecule from north pole to south and vice versa.

ANSWER:
This sound is coming due to ionization (breakdown of air into charged particles)
of air around transmission conductor.
This effect is called as Corona effect, and it is considered as power loss.

(this is a question)
near my home as a child there were a group of those hmming power lines in one area... that was the only area that hummed.... why only there? I don't remember any power supplies or transformers in the area... It was just a low lying wooded area... seems like when the lines hit the next pole the humming stopped (in both directions) I remember it seems like a lot of lines all in one spot.. I knew they hummed because I rode my bike under them all the time.

There some very strange anomolies around the world Birdie29 Sis'

You will see, that the answer for the last question was 'corona effect'

and for sure, these lines are appropriate for the 'loading' they have-to carry
iow: different lines according-to the use /span /environment they are to be used for
Their construction is of steel, insulating wrappings and the conductor material

It may well be that some kinds of line are less prone to the corona-effect
~as you can see from the answer I posted...it is considered to be a power loss
Transmission companies, do continuously respond to areas of high loss
by replacement with new materials

examples of HT power lines:

overhead example

holcabl2b.jpg

crosssection.jpg

Underwater example

submarine-cable-cross-section.jpg

Moyle_Interconnector_Nexans_Cable.gif

So, as you can see dependant upon location /span / transmission needs
some cables, are better insulated than others
and we must take into account the 'age' of lines
where breakdown of the insulating materials will create stronger ionised fields [leakage]

??

I hope that provides some answers your question Birdie Sis'
