  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Im homeschooled, and next year for my LA I am going to be writing a novel...I will have the whole school year to write it, but I do need to come up with a theme/idea for it, and I've recently used up most of my inspiration for my art/drawing hobbies, so I have no clue what I'm writing about! xD

I like:
fantasy (yay elves!)
humor (yay sarcasim!)
action/adventure (yay pirates!)
comic books (yay spidey!)

any ideas? Unfortunalty I know it can't be a graphic novel (too bad, Im more of an artist than a writer, lol) so I need to come up with an idea that is interesting enough that I dont need pictures to keep peoples attention. ;)

To write a novel, an author must first have a story he/she wants to tell.

I might suggest trying to come up with a general plot and storyline first. A kind of storyboard, and then plan your events around that.

The book I'm currently working on is sorta like the TV show "Heroes". My books is a mix between "Heroes" and X-Men and many other smaller things that can inspire me at any given time.

In short, it's about the main character learning to harness his powers while at the same time maintaining his friendships and understanding who he truely is.

In the end, there's a minor supervillian character that will perish as the overall, bigger plot continues on.

For centuries the humans of the Isles of the New Dawn and the Sea Elf clans have been at peace. For reasons unknown, Sea Elf pirates are now attacking ships, sacking coastal villages and taking no prisoners.... Could these attacks have something to do with the mysterious lights that have been seen on the Isle of Sleep?

Sarcastic Elven Pirates led by a giant spider! :D

Sarcastic Spiders vs. Elven Pirates! ;)

Or,

A boy with hidden super powers is captured by elven pirates and finds himself befriended by a stingy old deckhand with a wicked sense of humor?

Peace,

I would recommend going to this site RPG section. It is a group where people group write a story and hone their skills. It has several brilliant writers and at least one published author. I would go there and then go the the Helpcenter, if you RP a bit there it could give you an idea as to what kind of style you are best with, and what stuff people like.

It depends what kind of novel you want and where you want it aimed for :)
Decide who you are writing for. What is your audience? Who will read what you have written?
The best stories Ive written have had an outline and plan first then a story. I do this thing called NaNoWriMo in november which is really good to force yourself into the discipline of writing every day. I plan characters and settings as well. Not obsessively (though you can do that) but rather so I dont get lost in what I am writing.
Then I let the characters speak. If you are interested in reading some of my writing feel free to leave me a personal message and I will share the link to my nanowrimo stuff.
