  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One of the last things Ben said to the main group of Others before leaving at the end of the last season was 'Go to the Temple' (rough paraphrase). Two (soon to be three) episodes into the new season, and in Lost Land it has only been a couple days, tops, since Ben gave that command.

Now...

1) What is the Temple? Is it some place we've seen before (most likely the area where Lockes father was tied up at) or is it some new place altogether? It is worth noting it was marked on the Others own map with a pyramid, which is suggestive of something fairly substantial.

2) Of all the places on the island Ben could have ordered his followers to go to, why this one? Is is a highly defensible location? Or is there something there that Ben regards as being an absolute must to protect? Note that at the time Ben gave the order, he already (according to his revelation in 4.2) knew about the freighter people, including their names, and presumably their real purpose.

3) Who, if anybody actually gets to the temple this season? Just Bens band of others? Or is this the real destination of the freighter folk?

At the end of last season I considered whether "temple" was more literal, or figurative - e.g. it could end up being a second submarine named DRS Temple, for all we know. I ended up deciding that it was likely a literal temple that held some religious/philosophical/scientific significance, probably by the statue.

Now that we know the arrival of the Boaties may have inspired the journey, all bets are off. I'm completely undecided again. However, I don't think it's where Locke's dad was tied up, since that was a stop on the way to the temple, wasn't it?

My vote goes for a substantial complex we have not seen yet.

I also wonder: if the statue of the giant foot marks what was once a port 'city' of some sort, and the pillar where Lockes dad was tied up was built by the same folk, along with this temple...then maybe these old timers at one time had an actual road connecting all three locations?

Also, I have to wonder if the 'Orchard' station mentioned in the latest fragmented orientation flick is located close to the temple.
