  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Going to England, What should I know or need

Hmmm... Assuming that you've got a lens and accessories appropriate for the states, I don't think traveling will be much different. You do want to have a storage system set up -- and a backup if it fails. A laptop would be ideal, but an ipod or similar device could work as well...

I would seriously suggest extra batteries and memory -- you don't want to have to buy stuff in England right now because the exchange rate will mark up everything 1.5-2 times what it's worth here.

And don't forget to convert from their electricity to ours. Nothing like three fried batteries (and a mad hotel manager where you blew the fuse) on your first day.

yea, get a large storage device (like a laptop!) and don't forget any of your chargers or batteries!! Nothing is worse than not being able to take any photos at all due to a dead battery (hate when that happens, or I go out with a near-dead battery and don't know it)

And amen to the converter's, they're only like $10-$20 for all of europe and asia and they'll save your equipment, so invest in those!

Thanks for the tip. That helps on street photography. I guess On Set is a bit different, but that does help some. Thanks.
