  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

First thing you should know is that the book is dead wrong on a lot of things, and mind-numbingly boring throughout. It's written in an old style of English before the field of genetics even existed!

Reading The Origin of the Species might be interesting if you're into that sort of thing (I am) and it'll give you a good idea about what first inspired the theory of evolution, but you won't get a list of current evidences (he's dead wrong in a few places -- mostly about how inheritance works) and because of that it's not at all a good summary of evolution.

If you're interested in the beginning of evolution, you'd be better served looking up a history book. If you're interested in the actual workings of evolution, you might look up an easy read like Finding Darwin's God by Kenneth Miller, or just visit Talk Origins for a more comprehensive list of evidences (with citations for even more detail).
