Going Organic

I really don't know that we have any other stores other than whole foods. I know Walmart has a small section of organic veggies.

I buy mostly frozen veggies because they end up spoiling before we can use them.

I do the same! I use a lot of frozen veggies, especially for my son's food.

I feel like I have heard of them, but I thought they were green-disposables. Thanks but if I do the cloth diaper thing I prefer the gdiaper style with a flushable insert. I'd prefer not to put a load of poop in my washing machine or sinks . That just can't be sanitary. They actually say you should wash your undies seperate from other clothes and when transfuring them from washer to dryer you should always wash your hands thouroghly because of e-coli. I read somewhere that people often get sick because they don't do this and just figure it's a bug or something.

We don't shop at overpriced stores such as wholefoods. There's a more reasonably priced market near my home called Market Street where I get my organics. Also Central Market is even more reasonable than Whole Foods. I don't know how other's do it but we just budget for it.

How can you afford to go orgainic? We will go to Whole Foods Market to buy the bottled water Taylor likes to drink and we will buy a few other things there, but everything is so expensive. Their steaks are over $20 a pound. Even though Taylor and I don't eat a lot, that is still so expensive.

We love to grow a garden. We didn't get to last year, but we are going to do it this year. They just fenced in our backyard so it will be easy to do with the neighborhood kids playing in it.

Taylor and I love fish, even the fish at WFM is over $20 a pound. I guess we should try it though, we waste so much food and since it isn't prepackaged I could get just the amount we need.

Is there a local butcher? Our farmers market is a huge resource with local butchers who you can talk to and they know where the meat comes from how it is raised and everything. It isn't always organic but often way more natural than anything you can get in the grocery store.
While it is more expensive than the grocery store it is less expensive than stores like Whole Foods. And, your supporting local farmers.

Slightly OT - sorry.
I can understand washing cloth dipes separately but reg. undies?
How dirty do they get that hot water and soap won't get them clean.

I watched the "all about flushing" video at the gdiaper site and I hate to break it to you, but its pretty much the same. The gdiaper appears to be essentially a pocket diaper/prefold kind of mix, and she says if it is a poopy one that you have to take out the snap liner because it has poop on it, and then you can "put it in your washer" or "wash it by hand in the sink with soap." Actually it was pretty gross, you have to tear apart the disposable liner with every pee and poop and swish it in the toilet. So if you don't like one, you won't like the other, but that's why I had suggested the pocket diaper. When a poopy cloth diaper is produced, we take it to the toilet and it rolls into the toilet off the fleece ... but yeah if you're not comfortable with that, you won't like either option.

They do make some disposables that are green[er] but they are really expensive. I might be able to find them ...

Also I recall you live in a busier area or newer suburb type, so your area may have a professional cloth diapering service. They pick the dirty diapers up, wash them for you, and return them to you clean. You could check that out too if you're interested.
