  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

On another subject, any Godzilla fans out there? If so, he's baaaack!

After an 8-year hiatus, Godzilla returns to the big screen in 2012.

Since 1954, the Godzilla persona has had a long run in films. Not counting the 1998 US misfire featuring Matthew Broderick, Godzilla has appeared in 28 Japanese-made films.

:) If you see only one monster movie in your life, you have to see Destroy All Monsters!
Yes, unfotunately, the only version available in the US lacks the A.I.P. dub-track which accompanied the film when it aired in the US on TV for all those years. I have a copy, but they're hard to come by. It is waaay better than the one commonly available which comes with a dub-track created by non-English speakers in Hong Kong.

But yes, great film in the genre.

In my Opinion, I Believe them to be real and living creatures at that time...

All i have to say is if all cultures have a legend and it is generally the same... chances are the legend in some part is true... And all cultures have a dragon legend... Leviathan was a serpent like fire breathing Beast.. Since Scripture is inerrant, i believe there was once dragons on this earth... Not any more... but once.. In some translations of The book of Daniel... Dan deals with a Dragon in Babylon... This could end times translation but oh well...

Behemoth... Just a dinosaur... It was not a hippo or a elephant... I could see it as a Brachiosaur or something like that...

Hmmm Yeah that is an awesome one but I don't know King Kong v Godzilla still may be my #1

Absolutely my #2 choice. But in Destroy All Monsters they worked in a baby King Kong-like character. So, you've got Kong plus all the rest, so that's what pushes DAM to #1 for me. :D

Now you've got me...

For the life of me I do not remember any baby King Kong character... Are you sure you're not thinking of Minya, the son of Godzilla character? Minya's in there, no KK as far as I can remember. Besides there are trademark issues with KK.

besides Job, is there other mention of those beasties...in the Word
my pastor teaches another definition.
Behemoth is only in Job.

Leviathan is in Job, Psalms and Isaiah.

Leviathan and Behemoth are most extensively discussed in the Book of Enoch. Levaithan and Behemoth are a creatures of spiritual evil bound until the time of the end. Leviathan is bound under the sea, and Behemoth under the land.

I find it interesting that Revelation 13 has one beast arise from the Meditteranean Sea and the other from the land. Is Leviathan a stand-in for the A.C. and is Behemoth a stand-in for the False Prophet?

Yes I was thinking of Minya, that was Godzilla's son. But I couldn't have been entirely off-base, since you knew who I meant by the Kong-like character. I think his face looked similar to the face of a "Son of Kong" which had come out before DAM. (Perhaps they wanted King Kong in the fight, but didn't have legal permission.)

Anyway, I was shamefully wrong. I will now proceed to the kitchen for the obligatory act of hari kari.

I'm kind of getting tired of movie's hyped 1 year+ in advance. I mean, good grief, Tron 2 STILL isn't for another 7 months, and I've been waiting for that since who knows when earlier in 2009.

And as long as we're talking about Cloverfield - my take: NO.

There was this one, pictured on the right side of the frame?

war-gargantuas-2-300x225.jpg

Here we DO in fact come full circle to the Bible, I think.

In the Japanese film "War of the Gargantuas" there are two beasties, one giant green one from the sea and one giant brown one from the land; sound familiar? This is a picture of the small brown one which is just beginning to develop its full size.

Backstory: the baby gargantua is growing from the severed hand of Frankenstein's monster, prequeled to this in the film "Frankenstein Conquers the World". And no, he does not conquer downtown Tokyo, let alone the world. ^_^
