God's will?

Christ teaches us, in the context of worrying about daily, mundane affairs, to seek His kingdom and its righteousness, and He'll work the rest out (my own paraphrase).

I am married, have a few kids, work as an electrician, etc. Is all of that "God's will"? Well, I am where I am, and God's will for me now is to serve my family and my employer, and to grow closer to Christ. When my car gives up the ghost, I'll look for a good deal on another one. Will that car be God's will? I don't know, but I know that he doesn't want me to be irresponsible. When I bought my house, I had no idea if God wanted me to have that specific house. But I did the best I could to get my family into a house that we could afford. I got married, but was it God's will that I marry that specific woman? I don't know, but we have a great deal in common, have common goals and work well together.

"Seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."

There's a lot of good responses. Want to encourage you in this area - I know David asks why do they prosper? But comparing ourselves to others, can be very negative - spiritually. Think this is what Cain did. We just need to keep our focus on God and His Word.

He thinks of you more than the grains of sand (PSA 139:17-18). "I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jer 29:11. "In the same way you received Jesus our Lord and Messiah by faith, continue your journey of faith, progressing further into your union with him! 7 Your spiritual roots go deeply into his life as you are continually infused with strength, encouraged in every way. For you are established in the faith you have absorbed and enriched by your devotion to him!" Col 2

Of course we try not to mess up but when we do, it doesn't tie His hands. He doesn't have an urgent situation now to try to figure out what to do. He's bigger than our mistakes. We can trust Him.

God's will is found in God's Word.
But if you sin, don't forget you have Jesus.
He mediates for you before God.
You are not condemned when you sin, if you believe in Jesus!
