  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok... here it is... plain and simple

God is love

Absence of God is absence of love

Absence of love is presence of fear

Presence of undealt with fear leads to projection or blame in some cases

It's pretty clear why there is so much antagonism towards Christians.

This isn't claiming Christians are perfect. Just take these fundamentals for what theyre worth. Other thoughts welcome.

This is just stirring the pot with non believers acting defensive toward me, but bring it. I'm not here to argue, but to explain truths.

Hi PP, I hope you get somewhere with this thread, I have noticed that you are very patient and humble with our fellow misbelievers, and it does go unappreciated. I hope this doesn't give you a big head.

I have a question about what you said "absence of love is presence of fear", and directly above you say that God is love. You imply therefore that those who don't have God don't have love. Then you go on to say this is why Christians are antagonized. I disagree, but like I said I hope you get somewhere with this thread. So my question is, does scripture support this?

Is it feasible that the world does know love, but a certain culture of Christianity has generated disrepute among them?

I'm sure you'd be aware of many "Christian" teachers who are demonstrators of hate and contention. Jesus said "not everyone who calls Lord Lord will enter heaven", for some of those He will say "I never knew you". So there definitely is a culture of Christianity of people who have never known Jesus, but have satisfied their church rites sufficiently to consider themselves qualified to teach. It is those who are false teachers, who I believe have given Christians ill reputation.

You will commonly find among those non-Christians who hate Christianity they will admit that Jesus never taught what they are objecting to - so in effect they are admitting that it is not particularly Christianity they hate, but a certain culture which is disgraceful.

Unfortunately we all seem to get smeared with a sweeping generalization, I have been called "protestant reformist" and I find that offensive because I am most certainly nothing more or less than a disciple of Christ Jesus and I am free to learn from all denominations and theologies.

This is briefly, in my opinion, why you receive resentment from misbelievers and it is not fair.

How would myself being underappreciated with non believers give me a big head?

I think so. Scripture says Love casts out all fear.

Many (NOT all) but many have undealt with fears, which can lead to a lot of animosity towards others if they are believers.

Well, what's fair? Jesus tells us don't be surprised if the world hates you, as it hated me first. This is very real and shouldn't be labeled as a persecution complex. I don't think Christians seek out suffering. Would that make sense to anyone? I think this is very misunderstood with non believers. I have witnessed Christian's love be taken advantage of time and time again. And like courageous warriors, the true followers stay strong in their faith, showing them Jesus no matter what.. that's what it's about.

As always, nice to see you.

You are right. You would get more of a response by posting in the CWR forum.
