In many situations in our lives as Christians, in order to receive a miracle or an answer of our prayers from God, we need to play our part.

For example, Psalm 1, says that in everything the righteous man does, he prospers! Notice, he has a part to play, because it says, "in everything he DOES prospers" God gives him the prosperity, but he has to DO something too! It just does not fall from the sky! The prosperity comes while the righteous man DOES something!

The Bible tells us that God gives us power to get wealth! Here again, we make the effort to get wealth or wages from work, and that is our part, but God gives the power and ability to do so!

Many times, when before somebody received their healing from Jesus, He asked that person to do something first! Then the miracle happened.

The same applies for speaking in tongues too! Our part is to open our mouth and make an effort to speak, but the Holy Spirit determines what words we will speak or say, while we pray in tongues! God is not going to move our mouth to speak, we do that! But the choice of word we say while praying in tongues, is from the Holy Spirit.

The steps of the righteous man, are guided by the Lord. Not his feet, but his steps. That means the righteous man has to make a few steps first, in order to get moving. Then God will guide him!

Jesus said in Mark 11:21-24, that we must first believe that we HAVE received (already) the answer of our prayers, when we ask, and latter on, that answer will manifest too, in the physical realm! We receive the moment we ask, but sometimes, the physical manifestation will come latter.

Pray in tongues? That seems very strange. I am not even sure the bible mentions it. How can you believe what you will receive if you don't even know what you asked for?

Do you refer to the congregation or private prayer? Why would you want to speak in tongues to a congregation of one language? Logically, what will you communicate to anyone around you? Paul supplies the answer: nothing. Did Jesus speak in tongues? No. Why? Because he knew that if he did he would not communicate and that no-one would understand him.

My Response:
Read 1 corinthians chapter I believe 14 for prayer in tounques. It's in the bible.

How can you believe what you will receive if you don't even know what you asked for?

My Response: this is a good question, most people with they pray they don't pray in tounques the whole time but rather have burts where the unknown request comes up, where God directs them to pray over a certain individual.

Also when the author of this post says the holy spirit leads you... it's kind of like with preaching, God speaks through the individual, sure you're saying it or whatever but the holy ghost leads you on what to say. You know what you're saying through the prayer, besides the portions where an unknown tounque is spoken.

My prayer was like that for my first 6 or so months of being saved but then I began praying just completely in tounques.

I pray now in tounques essentially all of my prayer now I find and I basically think of osmething and it comes out as another language. It's something God gives to some individuals just like he gives some prophecy and the gift to preach. He's stirring up prophecy as well for me though (was told this by a prophet) just hasn't manifested yet.

Whether you believe this or not is up to you, but yeah it's in teh bible.

Did Jesus speak in tongues? No. Why? Because he knew that if he did he would not communicate and that no-one would understand him.

My response: This is a uh... nice little conclusion I guess but it's wrong. Even those who don't believe in speaking in tounques today believe that it happened, and many believe the holy ghost is the spirit of God. They also believe that the holy ghost on the day of pentecost came about becuase of hte fact JESUS resurrected, thus the reason he didn't go around speaking in tounques was becuase the manifestation of this wasn't set to even happen yet.

Clarification: After he justified us on the cross...then he would adopt those on the day of pentecost through the holy ghost.

Again many who don't even believe holy ghost tounque experience is for today believe this reasoning or one similar to it.

To put it short, Christianity is as much about getting heaven into us as it is about getting us into heaven.
