  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One of my favorite inspirational books to read are the series of God's Little Instruction books where it quotes a famous saying and then supports it with a bible verse.

For example: "The happiest people do'nt necessarily have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything."

verse: Phil 4:11, 13 For I have learned , in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The Game is that I will put out the well-known saying and you choose which bible verse best fits it according to God's Little Instruction Book!

"Learn by experience--preferably other people's."

Which verse best describes it!

I don't know which verse best describes your quote. But here's what first jumped to my mind:

Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

In other words -- learn from what was written in the past -- other people's experiences!

Okay here's mine: Stop and smell the roses.
(i can think of a ton of verses about thankfulness, praise, etc)
