First of all, God has you right where He wants you at this time, to teach you the lessons He wants you to know, so you may produce abiding fruit & glorify Him. Give Him thanks! (I Thess 5:18) Second, all wealth comes from God, who blesses those who love & obey Him & do the Father's will. Deuteronomy 8:18 "But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. I Samuel 2:7 "The LORD makes poor & rich; He brings low, He also exalts. Proverbs 30:8 Keep deception & lies far from me. Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portion, lest I be full & deny Thee & say, Who is LORD? Or lest I be poor & steal & use the name of my God profanely. Eccl 5:19 Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches & wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them & to receive his reward & rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God. I remember when I was seeking the Lord for new employment & I received counsel from a friend that I might consider self-employment. So I went to the Lord in prayer, asking for His guidance & leading. The following week, I had two separate occurrences in Christian meetings, where the exact same message & Scriptures were used for starting a new venture. I thanked the Lord for the direction being pointed out to me, but then what business would I do. Again I prayed for wisdom & leading. I told the Lord it would be His business & that as in the Christian life, I have given all my wealth & possessions to Him. I no longer own anything. I am now a steward of what He gives me to which I am responsible & to increase it & bear more fruit. You business will be as a steward of the Lord. The Lord then reminded me of my hobby, that I enjoyed working with computers. I had a livelihood right under my nose. So I then went & got a business license, prayed for a place to do it & a shop opened up in a small mall. You will find that at first you are working harder than you did when working for others. The one main advertising was being put in the yellow pages of the phone book. I found other ones didn't give me a return or new customers. Then the Lord reminded me the best advertising is 'word of mouth.' If I did an excellent job of repairing computers & giving people good deals on new & used ones, I would simply say to pass the word along to their friends & family & neighbors. It was amazing how the Lord brought people in. I even traveled over 50 miles to make a computer right & delivered it to them for no charge. Our word is our bond of trust. I truly enjoyed the countless opportunities to proclaim the gospel in shop & or give a hug when someone was having a tough day. God is gracious; His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness. I will pray that you will seek His will & do it when He reveals it & the wisdom He provides to make it work.
