  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

is this growing in godliness ?

“Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭13:13

growing in piety in the relationship with our God and Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I mean i was greatly troubled and afflicted and i’m sure some of you were too knowing what it feels like to be under such pressure and tribulation..
But i do wonder about this as Job said in Job 13:13 in the above scripture about “let come on me what will” after everything he was suffering and afflicted yet he seemed to hold together and had his trust in God. This has kinda been coming to my heart every now and then is this growing in godliness ?

“Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”
‭‭James‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭

even so the prophets, even paul said to glory in tribulations and to be patient.. an exhortation that we should have confidence towards God in whatever may befall us..

all things work together for good for those who love God who are called according to his purpose right?

So through all the afflictions and trials, tribulations we are being refined and more confirmed to the image of Jesus

through much tribulation we must enter into the kingdom,

the suffering of this present time is not worthy to be compared to the glory which will be revealed in us..

so we grow more so in the spirit through all of this ?

Hi,

Just wanted to echo what you said about how our afflictions, trials and tribulations and suffering refine us!

I was severely afflicted also but in all honesty as painful as it was to go through upon reflection it was necessary for me to be where I am today in my walk with the Lord.

I am a new creation. And I would go through it all again if I had to to be sure l am saved and serving Jesus as as true Christian in following his ways and the laws, commands and decrees of God Almighty.

God bless you.
