• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I really do hope that what I am about to write helps us all. For someone like me who does struggle with depression, this is what is in my heart. I want this to be an on-going blog.
Throughout the bible there is a King named David, I'm sure all of you have read of David slaying the giant, Goliath and sleeping with the beautiful woman, Bathsheba. However, David was called, "A man after God's own heart". This truly amazes me because of his mistakes. But, I believe that David's was Godly because he sought God so much.I think his largest accomplishment is the Psalms. These were praises, songs, complaints, and even screams of hopelessness to God.

This blog is for us to write our own Psalms. Write about who God is, what he has done for you, and even your hopelessness. Remember it is all to God. You are the ones who can keep this going!

Here is one I wrote.

God, you are all of my reasons!
You are the one for whom I wake up in the morning.
How wonderful are your plans for my life!
You have saved me from my past and my future.
Surely, you help me in my time of need!
I will sing songs of deliverance, for my king lives!
He had not abandoned me!
I have found favor and honor in his sight!
In my sin, He showed me light and salvation!
God is the strength for my bones and the reason I breath!
God cares for me deeply,
He will come when I cry to him.
I will not be touched by the enemy, and I will not be brought to death!
God is my stronghold,
He holds the beauty of my life!
I refuse depression because of his great mercy, I will bow and cry at his feet.
How Wonderful is his protection!
He has renewed my life,
He gives me wonderful things,
My mind is preserved in him,
My heart is drenched in his purity,
I am not of this earth,
I do not belong here,
God hears me and saves me from my sin!
Through him I have been brought from death to life!
Thanks be to God my redeemer and rock!

"I refuse depression because of his great mercy" - profound line when you think about it really!

God bless you.

The Lord is the strength of my life
He has shown me, that I am but a man
In my own strength I can only fail
I went astray, and He was long suffering
In His faithfulness He afflicted me and cast my soul into the dust
If it had not been for His mercy I would have been cut off from the land of the living
But the Lord is gracious, ever merciful, and always faithful
It was He that brought me to calamity when I went astray
Like a father chastening the son in whom he delights
I will thank the Lord for His rebuke and His rod
He brought me back to His Word, the word of truth and light
He taught me what it meant to trust and fear Him

The Lord by his wisdom He founded the earth, by His understanding He established the heavens, by His knowledge the depths are broken up and it rains down dew onto the earth. By His word He created everything in 6 days. By His word He brought healing to countless people. By the word of His promise, He has given faith to His beloved.

The Lord is immutable. His word is perfect. His word is light in the midst of a world of darkness. This was the light he shined in our hearts to show us the light of the knowledge of the glory that is in the face of His Son Jesus Christ. I will trust on the lord with all mine heart and lean not on my own understanding. I will consider my ways, and turn toward His testimonies.

His testimonies are life and peace. By His word, He put me to death in Christ Jesus, that I may live to Him as one alive from the dead. By His word, He took me out of Adam's race and translated me into Christ's, the second Adam, race. In Adam's race, I had curses, shortcomings, and worries.

By the word of His promise He has made me to stand on solid ground. He has founded my on the Rock and I will not be moved. The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Though the wicked encompass me round about, I will not be afraid. I will trust in the Lord for He is good. The Lord is the strength of my life. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I will not stand in my own flesh, it is dead. I will stand in the power of His might, which never fails, His grace is always sufficient.

Everyone that fears the Lord is my companion. I will lift my voice in praises to the Lord. Let us glory in the Lord together. We are but men, ever changing, we must put our trust in One greater. One in whom we can stand in the days of trial.

I will praise His name continually. I will rejoice in the Lord always. I will give thanks ever more for His love. My soul will make her boast in the Lord. Come exalt the Lord with me. Taste and see that He is good and ever worthy of our praise.
