  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't really see a trend that addresses what is in the Bible.

I still think of the Lord Jesus Christ as being the Son of God. Just as we are Sons of God. We are also "gods" in Psalm 82. You might say that Christ is a human reflection of the Logos. The same messiah spirit existed before Abraham, before the creation of the world, and was working in the creation of the world.

And likewise, the Holy Spirit is actually the Spirit of God.
Have you ever done a in depth bible study on psalm 82? It is talking about people of authority and that one day the judges here on earth will be judged themselves.

What if the Son just represents all of humanity. We are all "sons of God" as Paul explained. What if the character of Jesus in the gospel stories was based on a real man, but was presented as the true son of God in all of us.
Because of Jesus was "just a man", the crucifixion was for nothing.

We are all "sons of God" as Paul explained.
That's only half the verse.

QV the verse under my avatar.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

It happens to be my life verse

Focusing on a particular "role" of one Person of the Trinity against the others amounts nearly to a kind of functional Modalism.
I don't "focus on One against the Other."

I said, respectfully speaking, One operates in the foreground, while the other Two are in the background making cameo appareances.

Modalism is a denial of the Godhead as {God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit}.

Ontological subordination is just the opposite, and deals -- respectfully -- with their specific roles, not their makeup.

When Jesus called himself "the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end" (Revelation 1:8), what did he mean if he was not God?
Indeed!

Jesus, Himself said ...

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

And in Mark 2, we see the people asking ...

Mark 2:7b who can forgive sins but God only?

Paul makes it clear ...

1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Even the maniac of Gadara knew Jesus was God ...

Mark 5:19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
Mark 5:20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

And Jesus did not rebuke Thomas for saying ...

John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
