Lately, I have felt that God is leading me very clearly. Is this that 'still small voice'? There are too many examples, I felt recently that I had to visit a friend in a far away city, and to make a long story short, she started asking me all of these questions about Christ and how she always knew this but was against Christianity for some reason. She just didn't understand a lot of things and probably met some people that turned her off. We both had a huge life changing experience that week. Anyway, today I was going to apply for something and clearly He was telling me NO!!! I later found out why. I remember another time I had just come out of my 2nd job interview with a job I really wanted, and I thought I had it. As I sat in the car, God definitely was saying, NO! and sure enough it didn't happen, but things always end up working out better even though we may not think so at the time

Do you feel that God leads you in a particular way or speaks to you, not in the audible voice but maybe some of you have had that, who knows?

Interested in hearing your stories!
God bless!

not always in an audible voice. Mainly because if it was, i would easily reject it. Or other people could hear it since His voice is loud and booming :)

I don't always hear Him mainly because i'm too stupidly proud to bother to listen. But i do listen now which is something i gotta get into the habit of.

He talks to me in different fashions. He will sometimes lay a verse in my heart and it would continue over in my head over and over again.

The Holy Spirit sometimes convicts me. EG: when there's something i need to do, i get this gut feeling that i should do it.

But i try my best to listen. :)

i have been finding for the past year or so that he speaks to me about common everyday things, like weeding in my flower garden, and pointing things out to me. One thing he told me one day was pretty cool. I was pulling weeds, and making sure i got the root out so that the weed couldn't grow back as easily, but you know, you always leave a little tiny bit of the root down there, so you must be diligent about going back out in a week or so to rip that one up too, before they overtake your flowers. He spoke to me that sin in our life is like that. We must root out the very desire and keep going back when we notice it coming back and root it out again and again, and over time we will win the battle over that particular sin. He called it overcoming the sin. Interesting, eh?

A couple months back, after I dropped off my wife for work, I was heading to get coffee for both of us :D. On the way there, I just was completely overwhelmed, tears flowing, by His presence as if he filled the car. This particular time, He didnt say anything directly but in my Spirit I knew He wanted me to get baptized. So recently I did and my wife was right there with me and it was incredible. I think Newsboys hit it on regarding the God moving/speaking to us.

God speaks in many ways...Conscience, the Word, Circumstances, people,
I never do anything until my heart, and conscience is restful in Jesus and then reading His word I check that nothing condems my decion.
I think most people find it hard seeking Gods will, its hard to listen when there are so many other voices,,yes the enemy and even our own consciene.
Bless u JOHN

that is interesting! did you actually hear the words 'overcoming the sin'? or did it just come to you?

thanks
It was more an impression that it would enable me to overcome the sin, rather than actual words, but it does fit with scripture..which is the most important for me, because if it doesn't, i toss it..
Heb 12:1,2,4:"Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God....You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood, in your striving against sin."

Mat 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Hbr 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble [you], and thereby many be defiled;

Rom 12:21 Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.
This is how we get a weed-free garden, we overcome the evil(weeds) with good(good gardening, pulling the weeds that will otherwise choke the flowers).
And the same with our spiritual life. We choose by the indwelling power of the Spirit, to follow after Jesus, our example, to glorify the Father with our holy life.
1 Cor 6:19,20: "What? do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
This kind of life will bring much glory to God, and be a witness to others around us..

hi honeybee, but what if it's a decision in your life you feel you are being led to, like me going to a particular city, how would one find that in scripture? If the truth is written on our hearts and in our conscience, do you believe we can be led with many different situations?

Wonder111,

There been plenty of times I have prayed for God to speak to me through His Word to confirm a decision I was making and He certainly spoke clearly!

Whether to travel...God led me to a Bible verse that exhorted your journey is approved! Was going to start volunteering...a Scripture about volunteering! Choosing whether to stay or go away for the weekend, a verse that instructed stay! Hadn't been to church in awhile, God invited me back lol through a Psalm! Even for moment-to-moment decisions, to do something else or wait, would get a Divine wait through a Scripture, then God would send a Divine Surprise! :D

That's why reading and hiding God's Word in your heart be so important...His wisdom right there when you need guidance! The more of God's Word in your heart, the lighter your path beeeeeeeee! ;)

Here are some Bible verses to show how eager God is for you to follow His lead...

Psalm 25:4 Shew me Thy ways, O LORD; teach me Thy paths.

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He delighteth in his way.

Psalm 119:10-11,105 With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 16:9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I do believe in that "still small voice"...but it isn't what I would describe a s being audible. Sometimes it's a feeling...a nudging if you will...of my spirit. It's resisting, really strongly, doing something I start to do because I get the feeling that I just shouldn't...either at all, or not quite yet.

Other times, it's a thought in my head. I may be puzzling over something in my mind, and suddenly a thought/idea comes to me that solves that "puzzle".

A lot of times, though, God speaks to me through His Word and/or other people. :)

If you want to talk more about it, feel free to PM me or something. :)

yes, i do believe we can be led by situations, but don't let that be the sole turning of your decision. Write out on a piece of paper all the pros and cons of this decision, and be very honest with your answers. Then pray about it, with fasting and dedicate yourself to hearing from God, and he will direct your path. Other times, you just know. You just get that inner witness that it is the right direction to go. Just be very careful about relying on feelings. That is why the suggestion of fasting and praying. God speaks much more clearly when we have set aside time and made an effort.

I think good things to ask for regarding a specific decision are

1) Peace in heart about it
2) Confirmation in scripture
3) Provision of means reqquired to do whatever choice is (doors being opened)

Its ok to lay before God the proof in the pudding and ask him to give you signs such as those when the decision is the right one. That way if you build that as your model, God is faithful and you will know when one of those things is missing and God is closing the door. :)

yeah.. God speaks to me often like that. to pray for people and liek prophecies over them or words of encouragement and sutff. actually a really cool story- jsut yesterday we had a paper due in spanish. i had prionted it out at school, put it on my desk, then i went to lunch and remembered i had forgotten it less than 10 min. later and it was gone. my teacher told me to go look again so i walked straight into the room... and jsut stood there and sadi God.. where is my paper?!!? and soooooo clear i heard "the trash can" i was like whaaa?? so i turned around adn sure enough it was wadded up in a little ball sitting right on top. someone must have tidied up the room and thought it was trash. it wasn't something suuper extremely life-changing big issue that he intervened in, but i really felt special and excited that he immediately jsut so clearly told me. i thank God that i'm getting closer to him that I am able to hear him more often and more distinctly than ever. worship alot and read the bible often and you will become more sensitive to how the Lord is leading you. also, pray in the spirit bunches and bunches. it is scriptural and in the bible it says that it edifys, or build up, the spirit. PRAISE THE LORD!!

Hi there, my fellow female comradie! (Cool, we're the same age!) :D

I had an experience like that. I was feeling really lonely one night several years ago, and as I was getting ready for bed, I heard a small whisper saying "I will never leave you." It was audible. I was like wwhhaa??!! And nobody was around. Yet I had heard a voice...it was a very small whisper...and it was so gentle. But I felt such a peace I could not understand, and I knew I had heard God's voice. And it had been audible...woah. I thought I'd never get such an honor....hearing God whisper to me...and such kind words that only He can give meaning to...woah.

Okay, this may be the wrong thread/forum for this, but I'm not sure where to put it, amnd I am anxious to type this up before I forget. My apologies (in advance) to the mod(s) if this is in the wrong place. :)

I have said on here before that I think God has spoken to me in dreams. I just woke up from one I don't understand.

I have to start by saying that just before going to bed I had gotten into a mild disagreement with another poster on another thread/forum. So, that was on my mind as I fell asleep. So, as the dream begins, I am thinking about this disagreement, and suddenly, I put some sort of weird plastic apparatus up to my face, and it applies pressure to my eyes, and suddenly, a room flares into view...as if I were suddenly seeing again. I remember pulling at this thing I put on my face, and saying "There's no way!", and that's when I woke up.

Now, first, I think I woke up because I was saying "there's no way!" aloud in my sleep, not just i the dream.

2. that phrase, "there's no way!", I believe was me (in disbelief) that I was seeing again.

Needlesss to say, this dream was so vivid, and so fast, that it shook me. Not sure I can get back to slep now.
