Why did Jonah need a plant for shade if he'd already built a hut?

I don't think he built a full-fledged hut. Jonah 4:

5 Jonah left the city and sat down east of it, where he made himself a shelter and sat in its shade to see what would happen to the city. 6 So the LORD God appointed a vine, and it grew up to provide shade over Jonah’s head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was greatly pleased with the plant.

The plant grew on the makeshift hut that Jonah built. Something like this:




It provided a nice shade and probably a breeze for Jonah under it. Speaking of personal experience as a kid in Hong Kong a long time ago, in terms of temperature, it made a big difference with or without the living plant. I experienced both. It had to do with oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange in the leaves. The plant provided air conditioning
