  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biblically speaking, is there any evidence that God knows the future in terms of what someone will or will not do? On the face of it, someone could say that a being with the intelligence and knowledge such as God would be able to figure out anything. There is some suggestion that God knows a lot of things such as the hair of people's heads. However, many of the instances of God discussing the future is not predictions per say, but things which he himself will do. Saying that you will do something, and then proceed to do it, I would say is quite a bit different then knowing it happen 'before it happened.' Some people may say that God is unbound by time since time is a function of the material world. However, what does the bible imply about it?

Just something very quickly:

Isaiah 44:7
7 If there is one like me, let him come forward and say it, let him make it clear and put it in order before me: who has made clear in the past the things to come? let him make clear the future to me.

Isaiah 45:11
11 The Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, says, Will you put a question to me about the things which are to come, or will you give me orders about my sons, and the work of my hands?

John 16:13

Act 20:22-23
22 And now, as you see, I am going to Jerusalem, a prisoner in spirit, having no knowledge of what will come to me there:
23 Only that the Holy Spirit makes clear to me in every town that prison and pains are waiting for me.
