God is not American!

It will come as a shock to many but here goes...God is not an American, neither is He a Republican, neither is He a Dallas Cowboys fan. God does not bless any nation (America included) unless they sincerely repent of the sins, and genuinely believe Him, no matter how much they sing that tired old song of theirs. God does not fly, nor does He even have, nor would He even want to have, any idols such as the American flag has become. He certainly does not condone that 'idol of liberty' that stands as a symbol of America's true religion. In fact, a government that is under the sovereignty of the sinful people, conducted by the sinful people and for the carnal gratification of the sinful people, is infinitely opposite to rule according to the sovereign and holy King, the LORD God!! It should be added that anyone who has ever considered, now considers, or will consider America to be a 'Christian nation' is operating under a severe delusion.

I cannot agree with much of this.

At church yesterday, we had a wonderful service celebrating our heritage and paying homage to all the benefits of living in America. I think it behooves us to pray for our country, and all the wonderful people who have fought for America, who go to work daily, pay their taxes, obey the law, and still love our country (I am one).

I understand your feelings, but to ascertain and encapsulate all the negative is not going to help us become any stronger.
Scripture exhorts us to uphold our leaders who govern us in prayer, including our president.

Since today is our celebration of the birth of our country, we should have the same attitude as expressed in Kate Smith's song "God Bless America". Listen to the words carefully.

Because if we don't celebrate the benefits of what God has done when He originally blessed us with freedom, then we may not always have the wherewithal to do it. The direction that our country is going in and the attacks on anything Christian has me deeply troubled. Some places will not even allow one to place a sign in public to ask "God to Bless America".

So let's instead built America up and accentuate all the positives and ask God's grace to be dispensed upon our land.
